Hooking up s-afc. Need some quick help

Ok, i'm not hooking it up right now, but tomorow i will be. I read the manual front to cover, but it does'nt realy say anything about the blue wire. Some people say its for the 02 censor, some say leave it disconected. So my question is, How did everyone hook up theres? Also, is it that important to put one ground closer to the ecu, than the other?

thanks, CJ

The blue wire is for the 2nd MAF for a Nissan ....(Don't try to think about it!!)
What you can do is splice the blue wire into the o2 sensor wire at the ECU harness (Can't remember the actual pin).. then, once the S-AFC is installed and running, you can put it in "Sensor Check" mode, and look at the voltage from the O2 sensor.
Don't try and tune with the stock 02 sensor- I've learned it's useless!!
It's only good for seeing if the car is is open loop, closed loop, decell, or misfiring badly. It isn't accurate enough for fine adjustments.
pp13bnos- So, you got the S-AFC!!!! Lean the midrange down (from 2000-5000) by about -7 percent... you'll LOVE it!!
Actuall cars vary...

Hey- if you have problems with it running right (rough under part throttle..) I have a thread from a few days ago about fixing it... just search with user Bambam7, and keyword S-AFC.
Mine ran like *** at first.......
Now, I swear it took at least 1/2 sec of my 0-60!, and who knows off my 1/4 ET! I had NO midrange or low end....
My engine would fall flat after shifting untill revving up to 60000 again (garbage under 5500!!) Now, the power is ALL there from 4000 up!
!
Best $200 I ever spent.....

Today i installed it, as to the apex specs. The car fired right up, not any harder/rougher, etc. than any other time. Leaned it out about 7%, and there was still a slight miss up top. Leaned it out some more...and it ran better. Leaned it out to about 15% and the thing runs perfect. I think i could go leaner, but i'd like to get it on a dyno. But the car runs so much harder. I'm not even going to make any guess in power, but it was very noticable. What does everyone run for there settings? CJ

Every car is different...
I think the AFC exaggerates things too, depending on the signal and ground quality from the AFM... so in two cars W/exact same mods, they could run different numbers.
You are talking about high throttle??
-15% is a lot!! My car would barely run like that!!

There is a long thread a while back about S-AFC numbers, do a search and you'll find it.

I don't know exactly, but my low throttle is about -10% up to 6000 rpm, then 0%
High throttle- is about -8% untill 6000, then it's -5%

I was amazed at the difference, especially in the midrange!!
N/A's DEFINATELY benifit from these!!!
I can't wait to get the wideband in to tune it properly!!

When I grounded everything I didn't have to lean it out as much.... It should run at 0% just the way the car does if it's disconnected. you shouldn't have had that miss at -7%.... I really recomend chassis-grounding the AFM and ECU/SAFC ground wire.

By miss, i meant a high rpm rich spot. It was so rich up there, that the motor would feel like it was'nt pulling smoothly. Keep in mind my car was the car that had a near 10-1 fuel ratio.

My settings, i have the low settings at 0 all the way across. I just leaned it out on High above 4k rpms. When it was on the dyno, at around 4.5k, it would take a dip for the realy rich.

This is a neat little toy is'nt it? With all the peak holds, gauges etc... (I love the 2axis graph one, in RPM mode.)

Also, even with the motor off, my mass air flow meter still reads .8% Does yours do this?

With the motor leaned out, my max maf signal is only 51.3%@8000 or so. You ever see any higher?
