Hooking SAFC up to pressure sensor with Rtek ecu

I just did this to my car and it seems to work fine. My question is, is it alright to hook up to the pressure sensor wire down by the ecu if you have an Rtek? I read some posts about splicing into the pressure sensor before the FCD. Do i have it spliced in before or after the FCD if i have it hooked up down at the ECU? And would somebody explain to me why the FCD makes a difference on where you need to hook it up at. Thanks in advance...

You'll want to take the FCD off if you have the RTEK chip, otherwise it rather defeats the purpose since it can't adjust timing or even see boost over ~8psi. You want to put your wire before the FCD because the FCD clamps the voltage, so that way your SAFC will never see the 'actual' voltage when the car hits over 8psi.

Having an Rtek chip makes no difference. It'll still work the same.

?????????????????????????????????????????????????? ????? before the FCD that he needs to take off????

Ok lets try this
Remove your FCD and plug the harness back into the pressure sensor.
tape your SAFC to the wire comeing from the pressures sensor going into the CPU. It should be connector 2B on your cpu harness it will be BrR, witch is mazda speak for Brown with a Red stripe wire. You can also plug the blue(?) pressure wire from the AFC to the same wire and get a boost signal to show on the AFC

Hope this helps

and rat i wasnt trying to dis you it was just a bit confusing

He asked why it was needed to be hooked up before the FCD, which is why I added the rest. Though he should definatly remove it, was just answering the other question.

Hi folk's

Planning to do the same mod with mine. Have exacly the same setup as "Smoken" (S4). Three short questions:

1. Is TPS or Pressure signal the best?

2. If it is pressure, it is 2B connector pin down at the ECU that will be best, right?

3. If TPS method is the best, wouldn't it be better to build an extra pot. (slide resistor) parallell with the stock one and read this instead?

PS. Correct me if I am wrong. FCD is a software thing that hits in ,when preassure is too high. This is only software in the ECU (removed in Rtek version). Mixing around with different locations where to place the wire for the signal into the SAFC-II unit (in pressure reading mode) should not matter. The signal from the "boost-sensor" on the right inner bonnet is an ordinary 0-5V analog signal, AD converted in the ECU, where I assume near 5V the software goes in FCD mode.
Right or Wrong?

Thanx!
