For the TII TMIC, I dont think you could get by with one of those generic scoops, b/c they wouldnt seal against the IC. Without that seal (or at least very close tolerance), a lot of the air would blow around the IC instead of thru it. Maybe if you fabbed something up to the bottom of the hood with aluminum sheets and weather stripping, it'd work, since you're already planning on cutting up the hood anyway

Yea a peice of foam or rubber stripping from lowes is like $5. I didn't think about the sealing. You would probably do better attatching the foam or whatever you choose to the actual flange around the IC instead of the hood.

why don't you fab it up muscle car style where there is literally a hole in the hood with the scoop bolted down to the ic! you would probably need to make some kind of spacer.... you could even custom make your own scoop out of pretty much anything.... id go with sheet metal

that would be pretty sick with the hood popped and the scoop just sittin on top of the engine and plus when you revved you could see the scoop jump around....

you guys need to learn to think out of the box instead of bickering at each other all of the time

I believe thats what FCKing1995 was refering to when he said a TII hood would come with all the needed hardware... Everything needed to fit and seal the scoop to the IC properly. You would just have to chop that section off of the TII hood and graft it onto an FB hood in the right location.

Still though, way too much work.

Agreed, It also would help provide the headroom for future mods and provide better cooling than the TMIC.

Less work? Maybe. Cheaper? Very unlikely. You could probably take the hood and the scoop to a welder and get it done for cheaper than the parts alone for even a cheap-o front mount. Thats espeically true since there isn't exactly a front-mount kit for the FB so it would be all custom work.
That said, the front mount would probably be a better investment if you can afford it.
Also, I think the shaker hood idea might look pretty baddass.

You would be correct. It was just a suggestion, but I get crucified for it. I like the shaker hood idea myself, or if not a FMIC would be much easier to fab up.
