be carful when removing your hood.. they arnt heavy, just awkward to handle alone..

there's only 2 bolts on each side.. get someone to help you removing it so you dont risk f'in something up

good luck

no idea.. check your local junkyards. you'll prolly find one for cheap there.. and usually all they need is a nice wax/wash job. at worst new paint..

hey something to keep in mind..im making a reverse cowl induction hood for my cr and to sell as well.......amnd one thing i noticed when i tore this hood from the junkyard that it was kinda heavy...and i had never picked a hood up before so how was i to know....then i swap the custom hood im making for the one thats on my car to see how it works....and my hood weighed like nothing compared to the other one...probably an aluminum hood, but id think all t2 hoods would be the same

The TII hood is not a ram air hood. The inlet is for an intercooler. IMO it would not lend itself well to a ram air conversion, but it will work just fine for looks. Ram air will not give the engine any significant horsepower advantage until well over 100 mph, so just keep that in mind before you decide to spend your time and money on the project.

Another option to a TII hood is to attach a scoop to your existing non-turbo hood. JC Whitney has a lot of low-cost choices, and a Capri scoop from your local junkyard looks very close to a TII scoop. You can place these wherever you like on the car, which may be more beneficial if you plan on making a functional intake.

Most TII hoods are aluminum, but some are steel. If you can't tell the difference by looking, check with a magnet. The aluminum hoods offer a significant weight advantage over the steel hoods. Also note that some non-turbo hoods are aluminum, so check yours before you throw it away.

madoublet -

if you find an aluminum TII hood in any junk yards in CO that you aren't going to buy, it would be great if you could email or PM me. I've been looking for a TII hood for a while for my TII, and I've had no luck.

oh also, if you find one, it probably won't be too cheap.

i wasnt planning on making it into anything. all i want it for is looks. i think it looks a hell of a lot better than the normal na hood

if theres an aluminum hood there then i will most likely get it. if its steel and the one i have now is aluminum then im not gonna put it on and sacrifice performance for looks. if its a steel hood...or i see 2 hoods there (most likely wont happen) then i will let u know and u can come down to get it...good to see someone else here from colorado

From what I understand. A TII hood on a N/A ruins the airflow inside the engine bay and increase turbulence and heat. You might want to look into that before going for it cause of looks.

Also for $5-600 FC3s.org? sells a carbon fiber NA and TII hood.

There's some Aluminum TII hoods for sale in the Parts for Sale/Wanted section. Just do a search. I saw a few for under $300 (not including S&H)

I have also heard that the TII hood messes up the engine bay air flow making it harder for the cooling system to work raising temps.

NOTE: I have a friend with a TII hood on his N/a and his car runs at about 1/2 guage on the other hand mine runs at 1/4 gauge(most of the time).

Also, the CF hood will not dent as easily (from hail, for example), but the aluminum hood will radiate heat better.

BTW, here is the Capri hood scoop:

Too bad the RX-8 hood won't fit. Engineering geeks click here:
