if using a flashlight to take pics i find it best to light up just away from the target instead of directly at it cuz it creates glare. try it out next time

What exactly is/was the RX7 club of America? Are they still around? I wonder if those badges are still available.

They were around most of the 80's, had a monthly color mag (simular to RXTuner) that members got.

Disappeared around the time Mazda flopped with the FD and dropped out of Racing (93-94 I think).

Used to be that you got a years free membership when you bought your RX-7.

I have a couple dozen of the magazines laying around, and you see them occasionally on Ebay.

They had all kinds of little knick nack stuff like that you could order, as well as that same logo on Member's only style Jackets and mens and womens shirts.

Back in the days before the internet, that is the way you got info on mods and what other people were doing with the cars.

I think in the heyday that they had around 20,000 members.

I think they one of the first to try speakers in the bins on a FC back in 86. And had even some synthetic oil tests back in 87.

But they would have articles on mod's and RX-7 specific tire tests and owner submitted pictures...

That would be great Icemark. I would be interested in seeing some of the vintage ads etc.

Was this a Mazda America corporate sponsored club or did some private individual just come up with the idea and start their own club? I was curious because you said some dealerships would give you a years membership when you bought the car.

I don't know if you might think about starting sticky in the second gen section with scans of vintage ads and articles Icemark. As a matter of fact I was looking for a copy of the 86 Motor Trend article for import car of the year yesterday. I know it would be lots of work but maybe several people could contribute. Of course, it might be a memory hog with all the pics to. I don't know how that effects the site/forum.

It was an indiviual group much like the the people that put on RXTuner. Mazda sponsered by paying for a subscription (or the Mazda dealer paid) for every new RX-7 owner and MNA advertising in it.

here is an example of the clothes:

Or of the tech section:

Or other articles

If the car came with the hood emblem,it would have been from a previous RX7 club member then...consider the fact that the paint most be?? original as well.....that RX's got history...like to see how it looks.....thanks Icemark for that info. on that RX 7 club.

here is a article from 1990 on Mazda racing from the Rotary Rocket/ RX-7 Club mag:

Those of you who attended 7 stock this year might appriciate that many of the names mentioned there were at 7 stock this year.

Those articles and ads are really cool and funny. I think that one guy was in a movie. I think it was called Risky Business. His girlfriend has got a bad case of the TBH. That's Texas Big Hair for you that don't know!!! Ha ha ha... Man that is too funny.

Icemark, what are the chances of having a sticky with several of these vintage articles posted for review?
