holy crap. no exhaust back pressure tube

ok.. so i'm getting ready to make up a new exhaust for this rx7 i bought a few days ago...

and i notice this: (now is the time to look at the attachments)

what the hell? lol... the dude i bought it from couldnt figure out what was wrong with the thing and sold it to me dirt cheap. I havent noticed a lack of power in the high rpms... . The only thing that i am experiencing wrong wiht it is god aweful idle that i have tried to troubleshoot using info found on these forums.. But does this mean he somehow wired the ports open??? How can i check this? I am going to weld a new tube to from "A" to the cat later today and see if it runs any better...

and if you know off hand, what is the "B" is that isnt hooked up to anything???

"A" you cant see too clearly but its the back pressure tube that goes back to the cat...

any info on what the hell is going on woudl be appreciated... i can take pics galore btw and am pretty mechanically inclined. I dont have access to alldata until monday at work though..

B is your AC evap drain tube, A is your split air pipe, it goes from A to the cat.

The Aux ports (on S4) will not open without backpressure from the exhaust.
With the Aux ports NOT opening, you're going to lose ALOT of power at the top.

eh i dunno. i welded a 1/2" piece of round steel to the flange on the pressure tube out of the catalitic converter and connected that to the air splitter with 1/2" hose and hose clamps. I noticed a slight power increase, thats all. nothing that nocked my hat off or anything.

i dunno could this dude have wired the ports open? i mean the dude wasnt too smart to be honest but he rigged up some crazy **** in this car... like for instance the intake box was sealed with this silicone stuff and it wasnt high temp... anyway it melted and almost got into the IM.

i'm going to try replacing the cats with a straight pipe later tonight if i can make it to autozone and get some pipe before they close. hopefully its just really clogged up and that unleashes this thing. there is 122k on the oddometer and everything looks stock. I ordered a new tranny and clutch.
