Hmm is it a problem or not(stock TII blow off)

My friend just purchased a TII , we got it yesterday and I drove it home for him for about 50 miles. Now today he drove it for a bit and the car now blows off . Nothing too crazy just basically sounds like a stock diverter valve or whatever. My question is , is that normal is it supposed to "blow off" or something missing like a vac line fell off or something. Also the car is dead stock ,it has absolutely nothing done to it. And if it is fine why didnt it blow off yesterday ? BTW I tried to search but wasnt sure what exactly to search off.

Thanks in advance.

Has the idle changed at all? (vac. line popping off) Even at stock boost, you'll still be able to hear the stock 'BOV' though... And yes, it'll sound like a mild diverter valve, cause that's what it is. It recirculates back into the turbo's inlet ducting.

Maybe the windows were rolled down today?

The reason I thought it was the idle was because the car was idle'ing rough as hell , bouncing from from like 700 to 1000. I told my friend to check the TPS (forgot the exact name , but it adds fuel at idle with screw adjustment) and he said that fixed the idle. So now the idle is fine and steady. The thing is though , the blow off is damn loud. I've heard stock and aftermarket diverter valves on lets say 1.8t vws and a few of my friends have hks ssqvs and its basically right in between. Maybe I'm being paranoid but I mean it just sounds way too loud to be stock. And like I said driven under the same conditions yesterday it didnt blow off , it basically sounds like its maybe venting to the atmostphere.

bump , drove it again today and yeah its definetely too loud to be stock. The idle is still finicky. Also you gotta keep the revs up when you start it , but after you drive it for just a little bit , its keep a good idle (still finicky) but dies as soon as it starts though if you dont rev it and keep the revs up.

Please Help!

Thanks

Sounds like a vac. leak. You should do three things at once.

1. get the car idling as smooth as possible by adjusting the idle screw UNDERNEATH the TMIC. Go to FC3Spro.org and check out the tech section for how to do this, because IIRC Ted has good pics. Shoot for an idle speed of below 1000 RPM's, but it doesnt' really matter.

2. Spray 'carb-cleaner' around any and ALL vac. lines, turbo inlet-duct, BOV, intake manifolds, behind the intake mani. etc. and if the idle speed changes at all, or smooths out, you've found a vac. leak... After you think you've found a spot, keep spraying heavily and make sure the idle stays smooth (just to double check it wasn't a fluke). Do this in bright daylight, so that you will be able to better see exactly what could be leaking/popped off.

3. Also, if you just played around with the TPS adjustment to change your idle, without actually SETTING it by testing it's voltage, it's probably WAY off... Like, if you just played with the screw until the idle seemed smooth, you've totally screwed yourself over. SEARCH on how to adjust the TPS, or better yet, go to FC3Spro.org and check out the tech section for this too. It'll tell you exactly what you need to do.

4. After you've got the idle smoothed out (hopefully ) you should also reset the timing just to put the icing on the cake. SEARCH for the correct way to set your timing.

You can spray around for a vac leak, reset your TPS, adjust your idle-speed (correctly) and reset your timing in about 20 minutes if you have the correct tools.
