HKS style turbo manifold with stock turbo flange?

ok so SS auto chrome makes the stainless turbo manifolds for under $200. They are all over ebay. Well all the upgraded manifolds i have found have a t4 flange. Well what if a have a hybrid turbo already and want it to sit up high and forward like the big boys? Also haveing the option of running a external WG for boost creep issues. I say option cuz i could block off the wg flange till i get one and wire/weld the stock one shut.

Well im wondering where i can get a manifold like this... or if its a good idea to get one and cut the flange off and weld a flang on the manifold that will mate up to my hybrid stocker.

Any ideas or speculation about the pros and cons of this would be great.

Do a search on "ssautochrome" or "stone racing" or "master power".

Why go through all this trouble with just the stock turbo. Might as well get set-up for a real/full T4 turbo. I'm willing to bet that placing the stock turbo up there will not reap you any gains in horsepower, and might even hinder performance.

Another alternative is to create a massive stock wastegate. I cannot honestly say whether this is appropriate for a hybrid setup, but it seems to stand to reason (at least to me) that it would be. Check the archieves for NZConvertable's post where the wastegate hole was enlarged several times over stock. I did something very similar myself, 34mm diameter.

^^ Exactly as he said it above No need to go through all this trouble just to control boost creep. BTW, by stock turbo, I meant any variation to the turbo as long as it still uses the stock turbine housing and still bolts to the stock turbo manifold.

now that people have said to go to a full to4 and to port my wg.... anyone know anything about the origional question i posted?

My WG is huge.. its a S4 and i got a huge flapper door put on. It holds 5psi so matter what without the MBC. But..... southcart has written in many posts and a few write ups that nitrous will cause creep on a stock wg... even ported insane like some of the people have done on here.

Truthfully i want the looks of having my turbo sit high and forward. With the to4 front housing, its gonna look the same, and im happy with the performance already.

So should i buy one for a t4 and replace the flange or is there some other option?

Oh, and relocation of the turbo means...
redoing oil supply line / hose
redoing oil drain line / hose
redoing coolant supply line / hose
redoing coolant drain line / hose
redoing intake into turbo
redoing downpipe / turbine discharge

You willing to go through all that trouble just to move your stock turbo???

keep the attitude... i have enough of my own.

Look i never said i wanted to go with that brand... maybe it sounded that way but im open to options. I want a hks style manifold... I know whats involved in moving the turbo.

I guess im gonna have to get a manifold... and change the flange. If i wanna do it. Having a hybrid turbo is a choice... you act like im a moron for wanting to do anything with it. To each his own.

Thanks for your input on the subject. Altho it seems that no one really has an idea how the answer my question. So ill change it up a bit...

** Is there a term for the flange of the stock turbo? like t3, ht18beens and rice, oblong square404, ect, ect... or do i have to trace it out and make one?

The flange is proprietary, so you need to make a custom one on your own.
Good luck with your project.

Which specific "HKS manifold" are you referring to? The HKS cast manifold that is available for FC's only mounts the turbo further forward. HKS makes a SS fully divided manifold for the FD, but that does not move the turbo up too high, nor too far forward. I believe all HKS turbo kits (in which you will find their manifolds/manifold designs) allow you to keep the stock smog/air pump (search "HKS T04R"). This means it will not place the turbo that much farther from the stock location. The manifolds you see with turbos placed up high and forward are custom designed/built as I mentioned before.

^^ Yes, but it is pretty much the same design as the HKS cast manifold.

thanks for the input people. I know what my options are as far as manifolds, but they all have a to4 flange. I was just curious if someone knew of a manifold that i could mount my hybrid to.

The answer is no there is not. I will have to make one/ have one made if i want one.

ted gets much respect. His tech advice has saved me on many problems. This time the advice i was getting grief about not listening to didnt really have much to do with my origional question/thread title. Misunderstanding is all...
