Hks Ssqv Bov

Wow, a whole thread subject with no words in it.

Hey - maybe the people that have an SSQV could help me out here. I've just gotten this BOV and I'm not sure if it's working right or not. I got it second hand and was told it was ok. When shifting - I get basically one or two flutter sounds then a whoosh sound. I'm not sure if it's supposed to flutter the whole time or the whoosh is right as everyone else I know has those damn RFL's. There's the screw on the back, but I'm not sure really what to do with that. Any help from SSQV people?

what sort of boost are you running. The bov wont fullly open at low boost and will tend to flutter?

Well I've been running 12 psi lately, but then cut it back to 6~7 for daily goofing around. The thing is that when I shift at 6 psi, I get the two flutters and then the whoosh, but when I'm shifting lightly at either 0 psi or at like 5 psi vacuum, then I get the flutter effect. Could it be that the high pressure chamber is broke or something?

I don't really get a flutter sound with mine, just a pretty solid "pisheewww" kind of sound.

My friend is having the same problem with his t2. We have tried different vac locations and adjustment of the screw. He has tried several bovs and they just make the fluttering sound. I have the hks unit and I put it on a buddies supra, and we got that same sound. It works on my car, but I had an upgraded turbo... So either the vac source maybe is suspect or the turbo just does not flow enough cfm to get the correct " sound". I'm not sure.

i have the old school hks ssqv and mine hardly makes a sound at low boost. i have to boost more than 10 to make any noticeable noise. oh, and mine doesn't flutter at all, only the whoosh sound.

well, let me be a little more clear. i can hear the BOV inside the car even at low boost, but you can't hear it outside until the boost gets relatively high.

I have the hks super sequential and it is supposed to make a flutter sound. Mine flutters from 0psi, which is a very very light flutter, and up. But at higher boost its usually more of a whooosh and a lot louder, kinda like it pings. Mine is in full operation and I dont have any problems with it. I'm betting yours is just fine and that when there isn't enough pressure to flutter the thing it just lets it all out.
