HKS SBOV help..want more Whooosh

Hi Everyone, I dnt know much about bov, just wanting that cool sound effect..
I recently bought this HKS SBOV in ebay, i knew i should of settled with the SSBOV, its just that i got mine in a cheap price with the pipe, brand new...anyways..

is there any other way i can make the sound "whoossh" louder??

it only makes the wooosh sound after flooring to 6000rpm and its not that loud
(parked...half way off the stock boost guage, vacuum is good) i cant really test the bov on the road, the road is ice slippery and, worn out clutch...(replacing soon)

i tried adjusting the screw tight/loose..no good!

the bov kit came with this small plastic Y-pipe... what is that for??
i was thinking of running another vacuum using this plastic Y-pipe (if possble) to help open up the valve..

valve seems abit stiff, is that normal??

SBOV doesnt whistle do they like SSBOV?

Pls help

car needs to be in gear. stop reving the car in nuetral to make the BOV go off. The more boost you make teh louder it should be.

A BOV's singular purpose is to prevent compressor surge, when the throttle plates are closed rapidly under boost.

It's not just a 'cool noise maker'...

Don't fiddle with screws unless you know what you are doing. You are probably changing the cracking pressure of the valve when you do that, and it won't work right when you actually need it to.

I never liked the sound of HKS BOV's much. The biggest "woosh" BOV you can get is the Turbo XS H-RFL. Just be careful if you get one...I wouldn't be suprised to see someone get pulled over for it. Its LOUD.

I bet you T'd off the vacuum line.
Try not to do this.
If you're going to do this, put the BOV on the *straight* section and no off the branch.

Gergrx7..ya i know i shouldn't rev the car in neutral. (no load)..i just got on my dumb side and also being so excited to try it after installation, and ya as i said, i cant give any boost cuz its slippery here, i guess i'm gonna have to wait until summer, dang!...thnks for ur reply!

EViLRotor..ya i know the purpose of the bov..in short, it prevents damaging the turbine from its own produced pressure...and as for the screw, i shouldn't do much harm unless i over losen it, or the stuff inside would disassemble...basically, by adjusting the screw, hks manual says that i'm either releasing more air in the primary or the secondary valve..(Basically)...so on about the spring tention and all..
but pls by all mean correct me if i'm wrong i just wanna learn from the experienced rather than notes..etc!...thx for ur reply

OverDriven..ya i heard XS bov's are good for the woosh!...i'm still trying to decided whether to settle with that one or the HKS SSBOV... tnx for the reply

RETed:...i didnt T'd off the vacuum line... i just ran it just like its still stock..one vac line..didnt wana do suthing i dnt know about..
tho why would it be a bad idea to run an extra vacuum line??

HAVE YOU GUYS seen this SSBOV just line the HKS SSBOV in ebay, but its call MONZA SSBOV or something?? do you guys know if its even as good as the HKS??.. i know i should settle with the real thing, just wondering..

i hope i didnt offend any of you..if i did, my apologies to all...

Where in Canada are you? Ontario? You should come to the Ottawa Meet in the spring, if you are. Check the Canadian Forum
