HKS mega flow intake

Anyone have this set up for their FC? If so could someone tell me how to install the mounting brackets. Or show a pic if poss. I've had this intake on my car for I don't know how long and I never installed the brackets cuz I couldn't quite make out the picture in the instructions nor were the directions very clear. The mounts just don't seem to match up with the intake well. Just found my brackets sitting around the garage and thought I'd try and put them on. Thanks if you can help

I have the HKS intakeon my 91 NA, what year is your Rx-7? If its a 86-88 you need an adapter between the AFM and the filter.

The intake is installed if that's what you mean. It's an 86 and the intall kit came with two brackets which mount to the side of the afm and I believe one in the front of the filter itself.

Sorry man, but I don't quite understand your question, could you be more specific on what you need? However I don't think I can help you since my 7 didn't require a bracket or spacer.

The bracket goes from the front of the AFM to the inner fender of the car to keep the AFM level.

it came with two metal mounting brackets which would hold the afm in it's place...I just can't seem to get them lined up and mounted on. Sorry, I don't know how else to explain it I don't think the brackets are requred, but they kinda hold the intake up and in it's place instead of drooping down and resting in the engine bay.

Yeah, I had the same problem. The brackets didn't fit in any way I could tell. Be careful just leaving it hang. On my car, the edge of the filter wore a hole through tha AC line it was sitting on.

The guy who is helping me fix my car has a digital camera. I'll try to shoot a pic or two tonight and have them posted for you tomorrow.

I see the how you mounted the the flat bar with the raised ends, but where's the angled mount? That's also a turbo model and looks like the intake acutally meets up easier to the fender than mine. I'd have to bend and force the tubing over quite a bit to get it to mount up.

Well, that's not my car, and I didn't mount the thing, so I don't know. I thought the pics would help. BTW, the owner of the car in the pics changed over to a K&N cone filter using the HKS adapter plate. Changing out those foam filters sucks when you are used to a 1,000,000 mile K&N.

Can you make your own mounting bracket?

it's possible that the brakets only work for the turbo? since in japan there is no N/A. but I don't know. that's probably why there is 2. one for turbo and one for non turbo.

yeah it could be, I don't have the instruction sheet anymore, but I recall the picture and the instructions both showing the install of both brackets...I'll play around with them for a while some more to see if I can find a fit.

Thanks for the pics though evil aviator

Thanks for showing that Evil Aviator...I didn't get a chance to work on my car last night, so I couldn't take any pics. Mine has that one brace shown in the pic, and that's it. I think Scott is probably right about one of the brackets being for each model.
