hitting the track, want to be sure my FC runs cool

hey all!

im hitting up willow springs this sunday for an open track day, and im a little concerned about the temps.
its probably going to be hot out, and it doesnt look like my new rad will be here in time. i know my current radiator is a POS, so ive taken some precautions to make the car run cooler:

>flushed cooling system, filled with 60/40 distilled H20 and ethlyne glycol based coolant...

>replaced T-stat with oem 180...

>checked autometer gauge, found it runs 10 degrees hot(so now i know how hot im actually running)

>added foam tape around radiator/ac condensor so no air escapes...

>have underbody tray and plastic ducting in place...

ill be pitting regularly and watching my temps, so im not worried about blowing the motor, but if i can keep the car running cooler for longer, i can stay on the track longer and get more time in with my run group.
the motor on my car runs strong, and overall the car is in great condition, and definatly track-ready. i just like to stay cool, ya know?

thanks guys!

i would put 100% water with either water wetter or purple ice. any type of glycol based coolant wont cool as well as water. the water wetter will lube up the system better than water and keep it all flowing smoothly.

I'd highly reccomend water wetter, i've used it for the past year and been very happy with it.

thanks guys. what brand/type of water wetter do you reccomend?
i would go more towards 100% water, but the car is my daily driver, and i want to have some corosion resistance. the reason for the ethlyne glycol is its reccomended by mazda...but, that doesnt always mean anything, so is there something better i should be using?

i appreciate the help

Can you run 80/20 water/coolant and throw a few bottles of water wetter in?

Nice! I'm so happy to see that your finally going to a track day of your own...just like I've been telling ya...you are going to have so much fun.
I'm so bummed my car isn’t back together yet… I've been so track deprived this year!

Your temps shouldn’t be too big of a problem.... if it gets bad, just take it easy for a lap or so.... the temps should come back down quick.
I would clean out your oil cooler and radiator with a good cleaner/degreaser and hose it out real good to get road grime, bugs, oil, etc out of there and hopefully improve efficiency.
Have Fun!

I use 2 bottles of Red Line Water Wetter. Its good stuff. Anyone ever tested the effects of using more than the recommended amount of Water Wetter, ie 3 or 4 bottles???

Several friends and I have done track days with a completely stock but good working cooling system (with NA's) and have never had problems. You *should* be fine. The cooling system seems to work great for the NA. I do plan to get a new radiator though...stupid plastic endtanks.

i came up with a good soloution:

i installed a koyo

i also flushed the system *again* and changed the ratio of water to coolant...its closer to 70/30 now.

im pretty **** about my cooling system because thats how my previous motor let go(and the previous owner really screwed it up)

i know i should be fine, but i just like to double/triple/quadruple check

noticable drop in cruising temps with the koyo!!
