HIgh rpm stu-stu-stutrering problem.......
Hey all finally after the forum was gone for an eternity(seemed like it) I can post about a prob that I have been having with my gtu. Its an 89 model year like some of you know. Normaly I do a full 1at 2nd and 3rd gear redline run to hell keep carbon at bay on the internals of my engine. The problem here is that when I try to redline the car starts to stutter around 7600rpm(8k redline) The only codes that I am seeing are the ones for the parts that I have removed like the split air solenoid/acv and the solenoids on the rats nest(except for the VDI). Any pointers at what parts to look at for possible problems would be great. Thanks!

i had a similiar problem, heavy stutter after 6K and would not accelerate past. It cleared up when i removed my HKS filter and re-installed the stock air box. Pulls all the way through now Hope this helps.

Santiago - Although I'd take a look at the TPS, the other possibilitly i've heard of is that the grounds aren't good enough for the coils, or that the battery/alternator isn't putting out like it should... I'd look at those..
Good luck!

Hey, I had EXACTLY the same problem, couldnt get it to redline and it just stuttered. Check to see if you have a vacuum leak, because I had a leak at my lower manifold. When I fixed the leak, I could hit redline with no problem.

As mentioned before, definately check the TPS. Shoot, i would try all of the suggestions, starting from the smallest (cheapest) thing to the biggest.
I had random hesitations and it turned out to be my grounds, pull out that multi - meter.
Good luck.

Sounds like something to do with ignition, rather than the TPS, as the problem sounds to be RPM based rather than TPS load based... I would say spark plugs or wires should be checked first.
