High RPM engine oil pressure fluctuation
High RPM engine oil pressure fluctuation
I did not see this specific problem after searching all the engine oil pressure threads so i will run this by you smart guys: My normal oil presure is about 55- 60 psi up to about 3500 RPM. If i operate at about 3500 RPM for an extended period, maybe 10 -15 minutes I will notice an oil pressure loss of about 5 psi as best I can estimate from the gage. I drop back down to 3000 RPM and pressure picks up to 55-60 psi again. Thsi only occurs when the engine is thoroughly warmed. The car is a 90 GTU with a normally aspirated 13b. Any thoughts?

Oil thins as it warms. Thinner oil will make less pressure per RPM then thicker...At 3500 RPM you are just below the point where the oil pressure regulator starts bypassing. If you were above about 4K, you would see a constant pressure regardless of temperature.
