high idle and rough start?!!

i started my 87 na this mornin and it took awhile turnin over and i had to give it a little throttle to get it goin and it spat out a huge ploom of white/gray smoke.

For about the las few months whenever i start it it wont rev up to 3 k it goes to about 2 or 2.5 and when it warms up the idle wont go below 1.3 and sometimes it will rev between 1.3 and 1.7 back and forth on its own i just havnt really thought anything of it untill today, i dont have any noticable power loss and my coolant levels are good. i have a strait exhuast to strat through mufflers and whenever i'm above 4k revs it'll spew out white/ gray smoke anytime
any ideas?

Well the goofy idle is most likely something to do with the TPS. Try adjusting it back to spec. As for the gray smoke, that could be a number of things I suppose. Someone else may have to chime in on that one. My first guess would be seal problems in the engine.

There's an adjustment screw on the throttle body near the TPS itself. Search for TPS adjustment, there's plenty of info on how to do it. Very common problem area on FC's.
