High Idle???????????? Help!

My friends car idles at 2000 rpm. How can we lower it. All we did is change the spark plugs, wires and the alternator. The throttle plates are fully closed.....the throttle cable is not stuck....no vaccum leaks. I am stuck I have never had this problem on my car. Please help. It is an 1987 turbo II.

did you try messing with the TPS screw at all? there's quite a few threads on here with tutorials...i forget the links off the top of my head, but if you do a search i'm sure you'd find lots of adjustment stuff under TPS...

also, you can try turning the BAC screw and see if that makes a difference...(although i don't think that would be able to bring the idle down over 1000rpm's)...but its worth a shot to see if it makes a difference.

but i could be totally wrong...i don't think the plugs or wires would have changed anything, but maybe the new alternator offset a previous setting with something electrical...

good luck man...hope you figure it out

I tried.

I tried adjusting the TPS and still have the problem. I am going to try the fast idle screw and see if that works. Thanks
