High HP, no Streetport?

Just wondering if there are many people out there running high Horsepower numbers without any type of port job. High numbers as in 250- 400 or something like that(relatively not high... but...). Also, is it safe at all to do that, or does it not really matter reliability wise?

I just got my car running today so I need to confine the options down as to what I will be doing to it after I fix it up for reliabiltiy. 1988 Turbo, 7K on rebuild.

Thanks,
Jordan

Yeah, I remember reading that, I just wasn't sure how common it is for people not to port the engine.

it's only more common if the people want to spend the money to get the power easier. personally if you have a fresh engine you will be better of spending money on a bigger turbo than you would to re rebuild it for the additional 10-20% extra horsepower.

most people pop their motors working on their power mods then finally go with a port and do the job right after the painful mistakes.

Cool. I mean, I wasn't really considering a Streetport since the engine doesn't really need to come apart anytime soon, but I just want to do things correctly.
