may sound weird but have you tried changing out the bulbs?
I blew both low beams out once at the same time jump starting a 2 year old dead battery, maybe something similar happened to your car at one time

Do this. With the pop up lights down, pull and hold the turn signal lever to activate the high beams. Do you see the lights flashing through the flash to pass lenses?

If yes, the CPU board is bad and needs to be replaced. Mazdatrix sells a new board. Will also fix bad factory alarm and some interior lighting.

Before anyone tries correct me, this only applies to S5 Convertible WITH airbag option (all of them as far as I know). This does not apply to coupes as the wiring is different.

To add, I had the exact problem.

How could BOTH high beams be bad at the same time?

Answer, they were both bad at the same time. Go figure.

Replaced both, all good.
