hey there new rx7 owner

well i just got two rx7's. ones a 87 a and ones a 88.

the 87 doesnt run and i am using it for part mostly. but after pulling the engine and trans it will try to drop the 4.0 sohc with a 5 speed in that i have handy from a ranger.

the 88 runs... well did till it blew a fuel line. the one runign under the intake manfold to the pas-side injectors. but that aside it also has a power problem i wasrunign the fule pump off of a small 12v batt to runthe car.

the fuse seems to be ok but it is not geting power with the key on. is there a relay i can snag out of the 87 and swap to test that theroy?

other than that it sonds like a beast, it seems to have some exhust leak so i will need to get some headers id made and then have the exhust redone. i want it to be noticeable but i also want to be able to drive around a good bit and not go deaf. ( i will do a search on that to see what come up but you opinions are welcome)

the one that runs i want to restore and make my DD and the other a toy i can toss around.

a few questions on the shocks (stock it seems on both these cars) are the st replcements ok or are there better one for about the same price? i thing it is cool that there controlable.

there also going to need tires i thingking good year eagles. As i have had both good life and good performance for the price.

there are a tone of questions and i am just going crazy to start driving them

Keeping it rotary is easier and less expensive.

lol yea i know, but i dont have the change to drop on a new 2500 rotory. at this point any way.

right now i need to figure out why the 88 is not geting power to the fuel pump.
the fues's seem to be good, but what relay (or were is it) that controls the power to it.
the 87 is far from runing as there is nothing in it. (no interior parts just wires) so i had planed for a track car and roll cage. and sell all the other parts i cant use on the 88 that runs.

the 88 i would like to get an intake and exhust but i no nothing about rotory engines
i was searching last night and found somthing about adding 2-stroke oil to the gas. why? and in the same post and oil injector is that somthing that must be filled?

sorry for the noob questions but like i said i relly dont know a whole lot but am good with restoring cars, but all i hae worked on is piston type.

thanks again

1. Read the FAQ. Most questions you can come up with are answered.
2. Search. Most questions you can come up with are answered.

Specifics:
What models are your two 7's? Assuming they're both Turbo or both N/A, and both are manuals or both are automatics, almost all parts between the two should be interchangeable. Even if there's a difference, most parts are still interchangeable.

What isn't working with the '87? If it's just the engine, a used rotary engine will cost less than converting to V8 even if you happen to have a spare engine sitting in your back yard. What are your plans with this? What're your plans with the '88? Drift, drag, auto-x, road race? What's your budget? Starting there will give us ideas on how you should upgrade.

2-stroke should only be used if you know what you're doing. Basically, it allows you to remove your OMP (useful if it's broken), but lowers your gas octane.

The FAQ has a link to the Factory Service Manual. This should have troubleshooting guides for the fuel pump.

Basically, most things are the same as any other car. The 13B responds well to exhaust upgrades and turbocharging, moreso than an intake upgrade.

this will be just a daly driver, the one with the burned up engine will be the track car (road coruse)

both are stick, both are N/A.

the deal with the 87 with the blow engine, last owner try to set it on fire buy runing it with out coolant and oil so i am not sure jsut how far the damage go with it. thats why i would rather just swap the engine i have in my shop that runs and be done with it.

ok more research done on the blown engine, it is a apex seal that went out. can this seal be replaced with the engine in the car or is it somthing that would require it to be pulled?
