Here are a few pics of my car- The car is really dirty.... and the pics are pretty bad, but I had access to terrh's digital camera, so I snapped a couple.
I can't figure out how to give more than one attachment per message... so here's a couple posts.
1-Here's my stereo and AFC- I haven't cut the ash tray lid to surround it yet

Really well- even in traffic the intake pipe and TB is always cold.
It makes a noticible difference on the highway too- a lot of positive pressure builds up in the box- Id like to find out how much.

would the scoop work better if it was on the lower right
where the snorkel is? And then just connect another snorkel and make it air tight? I've seen this done on the miata before, i dont know if the miata has the same air intake system as rx7's.

the ideal point for ram air is the area where the flash pass lenses are, this section all the way across has the most air pressure on it at speed, unfortunately it is hard to get air to the intake from this point, the pressure on the body gradually reduces until a couple inches before the back of the hood where you get negative pressure, so in theory the closer you can get the ram air to the front, the better it will work.

It's as far forwards as possible., ony about 4 inches back from the headlight.
As for fitting 225's, from my experience, you need the TII rims, and I was able to do it by just using a $5 spacer, 1/4 inch, from a tire store. It all depends on the tire though- I've seen some that don't fit, some that do.
I didn't need spacers on the back, but I put them on anyways, just to maintain the same track as the front (othwise weird handling things can happen)

Hey BamBam sweet ride. hopefully my GXL will have most of the mods you have by summertime. Just wanted to say I thought everything was real clean. I really like where you mounted the SAFC. I may have to steal that idea from you
no, i mean the lower left, where the stock intake snorkel is. almost where the left FTP is. Then just attach another snorkel from the cars snorkel to the scoop and make it air tight

No way- the stock airbox is really crap!!
Even if you could get perfect ram air into the snorkle, you would still get more power with just a KN cone filter.

bambam, i dont buy that. I didnt feel any difference between my cut intake box compare to a custom 2.5 ID K&N cone

I noticed the most difference in HOT city traffic... geez, the intake temp is probably at least 40 degrees cooler than under the hood.
In 100 degree heat (yes, we get that here in Canada), in a traffic jam , or sitting at a red light for a while, I would notice the car just wouldn't feel quite as responsive untill it was moving, because the intake air was so hot.... now, I don't have that problem.
Where did your cold air box get it's intake air from? Unless you ducted it to the air dam or used a hood scoop, it won't be anywhere near as effective.
Also- the box is 100 perecnt sealed up to the hood scoop, it doesn't just have cool air blowing on the cone or something. All the air pressure on the front of the car is being forced into the air intake.

I mean with a stock air box, stock filter and stock snorkel, except its all aluminum except for the filter, and with a scoop next to th left FTP, that would work better than your intake system.
sweet car bambam7, look forward to seeing your car at the next meet./
