Hey! I just abought a T2 , but theres a problem! Help!

Hey, I just bought a 1988 T2 today, but theres a few problems. Can anybody help?

1.) I think the wiring is messed up somehow, everytime i try and put down the passenger side window from the dirvers side, it blows a fuse.

2.) And now the car wont start! It is a brand new engine, the compressions good. When i try to start it, it makes a sounds, like it lacking power to start?!?

Can anybody help?

dont know about the wireing problem but im not sure you mean a lacking in power...

does it just click?
does it try to crank?
did you check the battery?
check the 80A fuse under the hood by the drivers side fender

Does the engine spin around and sound like it's not catching? If so, it's probably flooded-a very common problem.

Here's what you do.

1. Pull EGI fuse from the engine-bay fuse block.
2. With the accelerator pedal on the floor, crank starter in 5-10 second bursts about 5-6 times.
3. Replace EGI fuse.
4. Floor accelerator, and start.

If it doesn't work at first, repeat. Also, if you're having problems, forgo touching the accelerator in step 4.

Oh, things will be smoky for a second.

Do the lights dim signifigantly when you crank the engine?

I think you might just need a new battery, or a charge.

Time to pull up another vehicle and get a jump! If that doesn't solve it, it sounds like you've got a serious problem with grounding, move the jumper cable to the engine block and try again, if it cranks a hell of a lot faster then, you found a problem. (That's only if hooking it to the battery doesn't yield any faster rotation)

does the passengers window roll down from the passengers switch without blowing a fuse?

If so, then you have a pinched or damaged wire between the driver switch and the passngers switch or a bad driver switch.

If no, then you have pinched or shorted wire between the passengers switch and the motor.

you probably have a short somewhere for the window.. also make sure you have the proper size fuse for the windows

as for your not-enough-power-to-start problem, sounds to me like a battery issue

if it starts up going "wRroooo wRrooooo" instead of "aYaYaYaYaYa" that would be a dead battery..
