Angry Hesitation at 3800 rpm

I have a slight hesitation at 3800 rpm while shifting all gears no matter when or where. Once I cross 3850-3900, it takes off as usual and can easily attain 6000 without any further problems. It seems the previous owner had the same problem (from maintenance records) and it looks like nothing has been found.
I have a 1988, F.I. manual, convertible which is probably the same 13B all others have but I haven't heard of other cars with similar problems. Car is in top shape inside and out , 145k miles and a rebuilt engine at 139k. Prior problems were even before engine rebuild so I suspect it's fuel system/computer issue?
Anyone with similar problems? Yuor feedback would be appreciated.

That's probably one of the most common problems. There are lots of causes. In your case the first thing to do is chech that the throttle position sensor is working correctly. Poor grounds are another common one. 3800rpm is the point where the secondary injectors start to kick in. Get the Haynes manual and check the resistance of all the little electronic sensors, etc. listed as posible causes. Try using the search button to get some other suggestions. I know sometimes its difficult to find what you want with it, but I think you should be okay with this question.

The 3800 rpm hesitation is quite common for our vehicles. Its commonly caused by bad grounds in either the ECU or other places. Sometimes its just corroded connectors on the secondaries. THere are a million threads on the very same problem Doing a search should get you some ideas.

I've looked but I think it's gone for good. It was a good how-to on regrounding the ECU, but it's not hard to do.

Look at the wiring diagrams for the ECU and you'll see there are four ground wires. Three of these join together a short distance from the plugs, and the joint isn't a very good one. You unsolder this joint and solder it all back together, adding another wire to the joint which you attach the a good ground point on the chassis.
