Most of the guys on here are jerks.
Seeing as you are a begginer you need to start slow and get time behind the wheel at ur local track. Learn everything there is to know about your FC.
I know street racing/drifting will happen but just dont do it. To cons than pros
Your FC is probably stock. All i reccommend at this point is a tune up. Oil change, spark plugs and change any belts that might be warn. You can actually drift your car as is. Not difficult once you learn your car. But i there are a few things that will make it easier. Such as suspension and drivetrain. Get a stage 2 clutch. It will handle the pressure of clutch kicking all the time. The easiest way to initiat a drift. Suspension is a major factor. I would look into coilovers made by tein, hks, apexi, powered by max. List goes on. DONT EVER GO CHEAP! Its junk. And how to setup ur coilovers is up to you. I wld lower it but not slamm it. You shouldnt have to adapt the car but you make the car adapt to the way you drift by tuning it. Dont focus on horsepower until you have gotten this out of the way. As you get better as a drifter you will naturally feel the need for more speed lol dont jump in with amounts of power. Otherwise ill see ur rx7 in the junk yard.
Checklist
Clutch- clucthmaster,act,exedy
Coilovers-powered by max,tein,hks,apexi
Checklist for power
If n/a get a turbo ii swap.
Upgrade the turbo and ecu.......pretty much everything. Power is lot more complicated if ur a noob so i wld just at others builds. There is a drift setup thread here. Check it out. Dont worry abt the keyboard gansters on here. Ill answer ur questions

Biggest mods that you will want to do (drifting or otherwise) is to beef up the cooling system with a larger aluminum radiator (with either an Efan thats properly shrouded, or the stock clutch fan with shroud), a good suspension (namely new bushings and stiffer springs/shocks/struts, and either have the NA open rear differential welded, or switch out to either a NA LSD or T2 lsd (this option requires a custom driveshaft and t2 axles to work unless also using a t2 trans/driveshaft/clutch/flywheel combo).
Being NA limits your options as to what you can do power wise (at least in california if you ever intend to smog the car). If you have no intentions of driving on the street then that opens up options for power, but NA power isnt cheap (neither is turbo power but its easier to make more power with about the same money).
Oh, also look into replacing the DTSS bushings with DTSS eliminator bushings to make the rear end more predictable when drifting (or racing in general).
As far as parts are concerned, it depends on what you want/need. If looking for used stuff I suggest ebay or the for sale forums here (and the californian craigslist). If looking for new aftermarket stuff I would take a gander at racingbeat.com mazdatrix.com (they sell RB stuff as well) corksport.com and a couple others that escape me for the moment.
Drifting is, in my opinion, equal parts showmanship, craziness, skill, and showboating. A waste of perfectly good tires but if it makes ya happy then the best thing to work on is the nut behind the wheel (which is true in all forms of motorsports). Peruse the Drifting subforum in the Racing forum for even more tips and tricks (as well as seeing what other guys do to get mad angle yo)
