HELP! WTF is this????

i just noticed this thing on the rear of my engine and then is welded to a part on the exhaust. it' the black pipe that then goes into the kind of triangle shaped metal piece.

also, what does the pipe that connects to the lower radiator hose and then goes to the firewall do? is it part of the heater/ac??

[B]I believe those would be...
  • the air line to your exhaust/cat...
  • the coolant circuit to your heater indash.

Nice avatar.

Split air solenoid valve? It supplies air to the cat for emissions normall, and on s4's it supplies the backpressure to open the aux ports, but you have an s5 so its ran off the airpump right? Just take it off when you go true duals and toss it, since ur not gonna run cats.

Run your aux ports off the acv relief line or airpump. Just drill a hole into the relief line, put an adapter in there, and run the line for the aux ports that normally goes into that tube (this is a vac line) and put it onto the adapter which is in the hole you drilled into the acv relief line. Then put lots of silicone around it to make sure theres no leak (where you drilled in) and let it dry. Finally, go out and test it to make sure your lines are still working (aaron cake has a how-to on testing the aux ports on his site).

If you take that off on an s4 when doing exhuast be ready for less power than before. At least until you hook up the aux ports to something else

Yah like how I explained. Or you can just rip the aux port actuators/sleeves/rods/everything out like I did

It's perfeclty ok to cap, and yours isn't functional anymore anyways. Just get a split air pipe blockoff plate and you'll be good to go.

Yes, normally it goes into the catalytic converter, if you have one.

That might be rigged to open your VDI via back pressure.
