Pull the TPS plug apart. Then start the engine and see if you can rev higher. If you can, then the plunger in the TPS is stuck/sticking or might be just flat bad.

I assumin you have a n/a right?
acceleration is all based on fuel and air(ignition too but we can disregard that because your problem is at 2500rpm)

what i would do is feel it out and try to guesstimate whether it is fuel cutting or air suffocation. trace it back from there. the first thing you need to do is download and print out the factory manual.it saved me thousands and a ton of confusion.

http://www.teamfc3s.org/main/factory...ual/1986_1988/

to me it sounds like a fuel delivery issue.possible vacuum leak to a sensor. but thats just my gut
good luck

There's no resetting the seires four ECU. The TPS on a series four can be removed and the car will run all day and into the night.

I suggested the TPS because I once had a similar problem. Drove to the store.....came out of the store........car started up just fine........but when throttle was applied the engine would not rev up............removed the TPS plug and drove home in a normal manner. Found the internal plunger or internal spring in the TPS was stuck causing fuel cut when the pedal was applied. Fixed TPS.

So. That's the reason I mentioned the TPS on your series four car. Other than that I've not a clue why it won't go above 2500rpm all of a sudden and according to you, idles fine. Possible afm problem??? Got me. Really clogged fuel filter? Really clogged fuel *sock* on the pump itself???? Bum fuel pump (put a gauge on the feed line and see what the pressure is).

Check to see if you have spark on the trailing side. Also test your tps to see if it is worn. When your car hits 2500 rpms does it fall on its face ? If so , its going to be a tps issue. I have had many do this and I find its the tps.
Thanks Robert

when the car hit 2500 if you step on the car more it start to die also i have to step on the gas slowly if i step on it too hard it start to die it like it not getting enough fuel, i have switch out the tps with one of my friend rx7 that run fine and it still does that so it not the tps, i was going to check for fuel presser and see what it say anyone have any idea what the fuel presser should be, i hate to change the pump and and that not the problem.

Hmmm, i have an S4, and without my TPS plugged in, my car will stumble and buck when I press the gas. Not driveable.

I would check the resistances on your TPS. make sure they are good. Then check your pressure sensor. Does the car idle well? Make sure the MAF is hooked up, maybe check the resistances on that too.
