Help- where does this connector go?

Took off my alternator and found a connector stuffed down under a harness...not connected. Can you help me figure out where this goes?

Still finding things like this after buying this 91 vert 6 mo ago.

Thanks..

I prolly wouldn't know anyway, but it may be helpful to show just a little more below that, about where it comes from...

Hopefully someone else will know, however.

I swear this question gets asked about once a week.

It's for the temp switch that operates the optional auxiliary fan in front of the radiator. It sits on the back of the water pump next to the ECU's thermosensor.

If you don't have the fan, you don't have the temp switch, hence the spare plug.

Hrmmmm...
Do series 4's have a differently shaped connector? I vaguely recall having an unused plug in that vicinity and i thought it was for the aux fan aswell, but it was a totally different shape to that?

On s4's, there's just a little black connector that hooks up to a little spade on the water pump housing. Looks completly different.

IT is only connected on turbos and automatics. Other cars do not use it, it just hangs there. Dont sweat it.
