Question Help w/ loud sucking noise

I have an 86 NA with an S5 intake swap.

I'm not sure how loud it should be w/ a cone filter. At idle, it currently sounds like a vaccuum cleaner. If I spray starter fluid at the lower intake manifold, it varies the idle slightly, but cannot spray it inside where I think the leak might be. The engine is idling around 750, and the tach doesn't really move much. The engine sounds almost like it's missing...

Essentially, I need to know just how loud it should be with the cone filter. Difficult to describe in text I know, but any help would be greatly appreciated!

The cone filter will increase noise substantially.

However, what did you do about your air pump? Once you disconnect it from the stock airbox, it will make all kinds of sucking and mooing sounds...

if you recently removed teh manifolds and didn't replace gaskets, thats the prob :/ course I'd be less concerned witht he sucking noise, and hella concerned with the 2k idle you'ld have
