Exclamation HELP!! Urgent, stud from LIM broke

Ok, so I was putting my UIM back onto the LIM and put the 4 nuts and 1 bolt on by hand and went to tighten them, and one of the studs coming out of the LIM that the UIM bolts to with a nut broke in half...

How do I get this out now? I was just going to replace the stud with a bolt if I could get it out, but it wont come out. Any ideas, any suggestions?

Also, if I have to, can I just put on all the other nuts and bolt except that one and still run alright? So I'd have one of the outside nuts, the 2 inside ones, and the middle bolt all in, leaving out the outside nut closest to the alternator. Will there be a vac leak like this or is it that big of a deal?

we left off two nuts when putting my throttle body back on and it revved way too high at idle (about 2K-3K). i would assume you would have similar (obvious) results if air was seeping in. of course, it's better to solve the problem than "overlook" it.
good luck.

Mmmm. With some "negotiation" with my vice grips, it came out

My new best friend are my vice grips. I made them as tight as I possibly could to where I could still clamp it on the stud, and smacked it, and bam, it moved a little. Did it again, moved a little move. Finally I was able to turn it from the top with the vice grips and it came out.

Good news is that the stud just goes through to the other side, not inside the LIM or anything, so I can just get a bolt with a washer on top that is at least as long as the stud was, and it should work just fine. I'm just glad I dont have to replace my LIM, mine is already ported and I didn't want to have to do that again.

Angry STUPID ****

Guess what? I went out and got a bolt that is the same size as the stud I took out, was putting it in and tightening, AND IT SNAPPED TOO!! yay! That's so fking cool I love it...

Now this brand new bolt I bought that's stuck in there really wont come out, I mean it's stuck, really really stuck...

If all else fails I'll drill straight through and use a bolt/nut combo or something, I dunno, any suggestions now?

Drill it and try an easy out, and don't tighten them so freaking much dude, they don't need to be that tight. (this coming from the dumb *** that has broken so many bolts I am sick of my self).

I wasn't even tightening it that much. It wasn't even in all the way, and I was just dinking along screwing it in, not even giving it very much torque, when it snapped. I was like "wtf is going on?!"

The other one snapped while I was torquing to the FSM specifications "14-19 ft-lbs" so I dunno.

I could always send you the LIM from my parts (scrap) car. For a small price, of course.

Since I bought a torque wrench, I torque everything to spec, and I have yet to snap anything. Maybe just a crappy bolt?

You can buy a kit to remove broken studs...it'll save you alot of time. Those studs used throughout the FC seem to be really poor quality. I hear of people twisting them off all the time. I recently cleaned my BAC and when putting the bottom nut back on, the stud twisted off with barely any torque at all. Oh well...if you can't get it with vice grips, get a kit.

Use an easy out. I had to pull a spark plug that the crown snapped off of one time and thats what I used. Works like a charm.

I dont want to buy another one, because I need this up and running by Monday when I start summer quarter for college, plus I've already ported my intake manifolds and I don't want to have to go through that again. Thx for the offer though.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone, hopefully I'll get it out today.
