HELP! S5 Turbo swap into S4 N/A Wiring
Ok, I am pretty sure im like the millionith person to ask this, but I really need good answers. I just recently bought a JDM S5 13b TII with Turbo Transmission. I bought the motor because it was really close to me (200miles) and I got a very good deal on it. Its got a HKS Clutch Kit, Blitz BOV, 3" downpipe, and I think a short shifter. I am trying to swap it in to my 88 N/A Rx7. I have everything ready to swap it in, except for painting the engine bay. Anyways Im stuck on the wiring.
What is the best/easiest way to do the swap. Should I buy a US S5 Turbo Harness, or get a standalone, or what. The engine has everything intact. Here are some pics.[Also is there anyone around East Texas that could help me. Really need help

Easy way 1: Standalone EMS (MicroTech, Haltech, Megasquirt, Power FC, etc.). separate the wiper and alternator wiring from your n/a engine harness and keep them. This is the most expensive option.
Easy way 2: http://rotaryresurrection.com/2ndgen...o_s4_swap.html (Great write-up)

Well in that case I guess I will go with a standalone, cause when I removed the stock engine I cut the stock harness, cause it was scorched and melted anyways. When I first got it I tried to get is started just for kicks, but I couldn't even get the starter to make a noise. I tried replaciing the solenoid but nothing.
Easy way one sounds great, so what is a good/easy to tune standalone for a decent price, and how hard is it to install?

dude. i did this whole swap. put an s5 turbo into my 86 gxl s5 turbo to s4 na swap. It seriously is the biggest pain in the ***. you have to get the s4 turbo front cover OMP make a custom omp line(bend shape it yourself), you havwe to get a s4 turbo throttle body, swap the tps, you need the s4 turbo water pump, ecu etc. etc. I did everything for the swap and it still wouldnt even idle. I did all the correct wire splicing and wiring, it was pretty difficult, you have to bypass alot of things. After sitting for a while i finally decided to take it to a shop this week. The shop i took my car to had about 3 cars sitting from series turbo swaps which had all had blown engines. The s4 ecu is barely managable for the power your putting down and all the different electrical changes and swaps, so it makes it incredibly easy to blow.
I am getting a haltech installed this week cause its better then having a blown engine/ cheaper in the long run. I also have to pay for new sensors and the labor for the rewiring of a new harness and to accomedate to the things i swapped out. I had the same mindset as you, but dude you REALLY REALLY should go haltech or standalone although it is expensive( the installation and wiring and new fuel pump everything is probably gonna run me 2K) its worth it in the long run.
Keep everything on your s5 turbo motor s5!!!!!! just put it in your car and put a haltech in there so the guy installing can just ptach the harness(aka saves you money) Learn from my mistake and take my advice, trust me please trust me, go stand alone. ill give you my number or message you if you want more details on the swap, i did the whole thing myself with my pops.
with these cars you can never cheap out or youll pay for it in the long run. Just go to your local shop and have a haltech installed( im going with a e6k).
All in all since you have a different series swap the wiring for your haltech is gonna be a little difficult, i highly recommend getting a shop to do it.
I believe the base price is.
800$ for the haltech
850$ for the labor
550$ for the tuning

Thanks bro, thats just the answer I was looking for. It's standalone then. One problem though... I live in East Texas and the only shops that could install that kind of thing is in Houston or Dallas, both about 3 or 4 hours away. How complicated is it to install?

umm, ive never installed one personally, but he showed me the bundle of wires that came with the package and i thought to my self "**** thhhhaattt"
i was considering doing it myself to save money but i really dont have the time..
im sure if you have experience it couldnt be that bad, I remember him saying something about since its a different series motor in the car you cant just patch the harness in. You actually have to create a whole new harness. so its probably difficult

I found it, the ultimate package, its a little expensive but it looks well worth it, your choice of patch looms plus water and air temp sensors. I just may save up my money and get this. What other sensors would I have to get?

Regarding the Haltech patch loom:
If the patch loom allows you to use an s5 engine harness, then I wouldn't do it unless your engine harness is new. After 20 years the stock harness gets a lil crispy.
The MicroTech comes with a blue instruction booklet, with all the wiring diagrams and such. I have the most experience with the MT so I can only suggest that you do more research into the different kinds of EMS out there, and judge for yourself which one you'd like to use.
