Help removing TB
Hello, I have bought a NEW TB for my S5 TII because i figured the cold idle screw's been messed up and thermowax assembly is malfunctioning (did alot of research)
anyways the FSM says
1: remove throttle cable
2: remove cruise cable..
...
...
9: remove bolts...
but the thing is, alot of things are in the way, especially the intercooler support plate (thats bronze directly above the solenoids and oil filler neck)
I can't figure out how to get the TB off with all the tricky places of the bolts
does anyone have any pictured instructions, or whatever tips to get the throttle body off? (first i need the elbow off, then the 4 screws around the TB where it connects the UIM)

yeah i installed the turbo and FMIC myself, but the FMIC is old style so i never had pipes running from the driver's side.
i wanted to swap the TB and get more of the useless clutter out of the engine bay (next step in my project)
any other pointers?

anyways, on a side note, does anyone think the search feature is not what it is used to be?
i mean i searched for TB removal, removing TB, TB mod, (and others, AWS, AWS removal etc)
and the results weren't that great... plus AWS it said nothing found but i swear i saw a thread with AWS in it later....
i've searched alot (and the archives too) for anything related to removing the TB but all i got are info after it is removed...
anyone have some good pictures/info? i really need my car done by mid september for smog

You have to be creative and patient with the search feature but it does work.
Your kinda at a point where you know what you have to do, now just remove the bolts, throttle cables, vac hoses and coolant lines and pull the UIM out, This is by far easier that trying to remove just the TB while the UIM is still in the car. Then pop the TB off and replace.
Sorry for the lack of specifics but the rest is just putting sockets on a ratchet and then placing socket over bolt, make sure the ratchet is set to loosen and then turn ratchet handle counter clockwise to remove nuts and bolts.
If you were able to install the after market mods you have listed you should be able to remove the UIM already.
Good luck. Post Pics of your setup, Im curious as to the additional Injector setup.

Thanks,
I just wasn't sure if the UIM was the way to go
(and looking at the pictures posted on the offical photo thread, most everyone have their bronze intercooler plate removed... thats why i asked)
anyways, these are pictures of my car from 2 years ago (since i removed the pipes for Smog..)
notice the large pipe that span from passanger side to driver side, that is how the IC was rerouted (don't ask me, i bought it like this, i think i saw hondahater had something like this kit too)
and the extra injectors sit towards the TB as u see.
My complete project includes getting a Stand Alone, changing injectors, rerouting IC pipes, getting new intercooler and among other stuff...
thanks for the help, i'll keep update if i have anymore trouble

Cool man, good luck with your project. I also love seeing that other people keep the stock fresh air scoop in place with aftermarket intake, gotta love that cold air.
