How do i know what year my engine is??

When i purchased my Eninge from Japan, they told me that the motor that i purchased was an 88-91. Im trying to get some parts from the dealer, and he wanted to know the specifc year of the Engine. I dont know what year my Engine is. Is there a stamp or something that will tell me what year my Engine is? Thank you so much for the help!

Series 5 (89-91) Engines...

1. ..did not have a EGR valve on the center plate.
2. ..have the emmisions air ports in the center plate and on the front and rear irons, the front and rear iron emmisions ports are usually covered by the LIM to engine gasket.
3. ..have the rear engine hoist hanger more toward the driver side if I remember correctly.
4. .. have a plastic thermostat cover with 3 bolts instead of aluminum with 2 bolts on a S4
5. .. have 3 bolts for the e-omp on the side of the front cover instead of 2 boltson a S4

1. S4 (86-88) engines have the EGR on top of the center plate
2. S4 engines have the emmisions air ports ONLY on the front and rear irons. Not in the center iron.
