KS Help Rebuilding Rear Brakes! Removing Piston

I am rebuilding a pair of s4 rear calipers because of a torn seal. I bought the rebuild kit and need help. I have seen people rebuild calipers before and they remove the piston completely, by using compressed air. Is this the same techniuqe for rx7. Please any help will be appreciated. Thanks

I'm pretty sure they screw in and out. [The front will just pop out with a little air pressure pursuasion.] So you might want to get one of these tools to make the job easier. They can be found at most auto supply stores and are not very expensive. Use a 3/8" ratchet with the tool to turn the piston out, then back in. Or you can try to turn them with a substantial pair of needlenose pliers which can be a bear if they've been in there a long time.

They unscrew. Go to Autozone and rent the disk brake kit, or buy the little cube that fits on a 3/8" extension.

If you're rebuilding them, pop them out with compressed air. By far the easiest method. USe a piece of wood to protect the piston from damage as they do pop out with quite some force. You will need the tool above to reinstall the piston though.
