I should be more specific sorry, the puddle wasn't that big but I have cold air intake with a bypass and still when I emptied the piping watr just flowed out.
do i just need to let it dry out for a couple of days then?

try pouring rust converter in it. no seriously just try the atf trick. just take out the bottom plugs and try to get the water out first. maybe just let it dry out for a day or 2
How big of a puddle was it!!!!
The stock intake is like 2 1/2-3 feet off the ground.
Only a couple people have the cold air intake. if you have one you should have installed one of those AEM bypass thing-a-ma-bobs.
OK,
Now how to fix it.
GOOD NEWS! You have a ROTARY! There's no such thing as hydrolock on our cars!
Step1. Pray to who ever you can that mud or debri wasn't sucked up with the water
Step2.
Pop hood
Step3.
On the right hand side is the Main fuse block.
Step4.
Pull the cover off(if it's still on) and pull the 2nd fuse closest to the fender well. It prevents gas from being added to the chamber so you can clear the engine)
Step5.
Get in the car and hit/floor the accel pedal(car still off)
Step6.
Turn the car over while holding pedal for a few seconds.
(It will push all water out of the chambers)
Step7. Pray again.
Step8.
Put fuse back in and try to start it.
If this still doesn't work then it might be too wet for the spark plugs to fire. You might have to take the spark plugs out and clean them. Then let the engine dry inside.
Good luck.

I wouldn't try the ATF trick since that's a last ditch compression trick.
My method is the unflooding procedure for when you flood it with gas but should work in your problem unless massive amounts of water had been taken in.
Oh yeah. You might want to change your oil too because it could be contaminated with water and debri now.

Dude, How much water to you realistically think you injested?
And if your cold air, WHY ARE YOU NOT RUNNING A PRESSURE RELEASE VALVE?!?!
*edit*
Something just sounds wierd here. You would have had to run over the mother of all puddles to do any damage to your motor.

Dude, when they say cold air they don't mean a cone con filter replacing the stock air box (well maybe) they are talking about a CAI that is up in the front of the car (usually in the lower part). Cuz it is pretty rare to find those kinds of CAI.
not very rare.
Trust me it isn't the intake with water in it man. I ran over a few puddles and nothing happened to the car. Its impolisible for it to happen. YOu probably shorted some wiring like Jarret stated.

fixed
okay what happened was..........
a lot of water got in there and I had to pull the spark plugs out and keep on turning it over until it was dry
then I had to use atf trick thingy, now this took two days because the weather is very rainy here now, so the engine had a hard time drying.
so anyway it runs now and I just changed the oil to get the atf out, (btw dexron mercon III works fine for this) and I purged the fuel system to get out moisture and put in injector cleaner (I like Seafoam) and it is on the road to a full recovery- thanks everyone who helped-

You know it probably would've been quicker next time you run over a 'puddle' just to leave everything as it is and crank it over just normally...
Trust me, I know, I flooded my engine with a water injection system that had a slight design fault (read: I stuffed up
). All you need to do is crank it over for not even that long at all and the petrol does absolutle miracle with getting rid of water outa there..

Well if your intake managed to suck up more than the 1+ltr's of water that was syphoned into my engine/inlet then it must've been a serious puddle...
Something a little more like a flood....
