help, Pwr Antenna wont go down

Was checking fuses the other day trying to fix the rear defrost, pulled the defrost one to look at it while the car was off and the keys were out of the ignition and my deck ejected the cd that was in there, and ever since the pwr ant. which might have raised at this point?, won't go down. Now when I turn on or off the deck I just hear the ant. motor running and no down action out of the mast. So what it looks like to me is that the antenna mast could be broken internally? anything else that it could be or does this sound like it will need the mast replaced?

From looking at other antenna posts it also sounds like the stereo relay hooked up to my aftermarket deck is wired incorrectly because the antenna would go up/down when the deck was powered on/off, can anyone tell me which wires to change around so that when the antenna is working properly it goes up/down only when the radio is turned on/off.

thanks, any help would be greatly appreciated

well u might have the relay wired wrong if not tha then there is a good chance that the little strip of gearing inside your ant. might have broken mine did that and your best bet is go just get a new ant..

It does sound like a broken mast... but just by chance it is not:

aftermarket radio or stock radio?

If it is aftermarket, chances are it is wired incorrectly.

Did the problem go away when you put the rear defrost fuse back in?

mark: - yes is its an aftermarket radio
- something is wonky with the wiring from the radio to the relay (ant. would go up/down when deck is powered on/off instead of when the radio is selected)
- nope the problem stayed the same when the fuse was put back. (the defrost fuse is raised by a spacer type deal in the fuse box for that fuse only, possibly for the aftermarket radio?
thanks.

I had to check the wiring for antenna as it didn't function properly.

All I did was checked the wiring diagram and chased the wire, correct the improper connection and confirmed with multimeter for continuity, antenna works fine now.

It's not really that difficult, but, time consuming to chase them wires sometimes.

Sometimes the little plastic cable that pulls the antenna down, breaks and needs to be replaced. Spend $20-$25 on a new one and install it. Also, do not cut it. It comes the right length. (This I know.)
