Help Plz!!!

I have a slightly cracked radiator on my 1990 GTU(automatic) and i need to know if a 1986 n/a fc radiator will fit it. BEcause there is a '86 down the road for 300$ that a tree fell on and busted the windows and stuff and the engine isnt running so i was gonna by it for the tires and rims anywayz but i really need to know if the radiator willl fit my '90GTU as well as the alternator if it will fit?

I - thinik -.......I said THINK..........the rad will fit

The alternator will FIT (physically, with a slight grind on the spacer for hte bottom bolt) but an S4 has a little bit different plug on the back of it....Im not sure how to make it work in an S5. My buddy tried it and he kept blowing his main fuse...so I would say - nay - on the alternator fit.

the s5 rads and s4 are interchangeable... However if you have an auto tranny them you have to find the ones with the inlet/outle on the bottom of therads for the transmition fluid...

you can't use the radiator from a manual transmission RX7 in an auto tranny RX7 ever because the auto tranny radiator has hookups for hoses that come from the transmission. Manual trannys don't need to be cooled.

And MARTIN, why would you say it would fit? if you don't know, don't just say yes... I would be ****** pissed if i went and bought a rad at a junk yard and took it home and it didn't fit..

yeah i saw it. you said yeah it will fit. No it won't because manual tranny rads don't have the cooler for tranny fluid.

LMAO, The RAD will FIT. He asked if it would fit lol not what needed to be done. But he could tap a line into the lower RAD hose and take the coolant from there 10$ at a parts store.

all the radiators fit into the cars phsyically, bolt holes are the same,

how ever some radiators have a cap on them and some do not!!! so if you try to put a radiator that doesnt have any cap built into it, on an s5 engine,( no cap on metal neck off the water pump housing, you wont have anywhere to fill it up at lol!!! learned that the hard way...

i would have loved to see your face when you got the coolant

btw anyone know the reason behind this? i have 1 rad of each from S4's im trying to decide which one to use... im guessing the cap-less one would be best.

Yea some FC's not series dependant did not have a cap on the RAD. There was a stand-alone fill section that was seriesed to the over flow reservoir.
