help please....just another new-B

so yeah, this is my first post, so hello by the way, could anybody please point me in the right direction or where to go for infromation (links, websites, personal experience) on my latest rx7 project. I have a stock 87 rx7 S4 NA and bought it with no motor, but everything else is there such as wire harness for engine and battery/fuse block bolted on driver strut tower and ECU....anyways, bought the car and bought a S5 13b turbo motor off ebay, well i got bulk everything engine ( direct bolt in), transmission and ECU, ECU/engine harness and also the battery/fuse block, starter body harness, so can anybody help, thanx.

Sell it. If you can't even gather information how do you expect to assemble a car of varying years and trim levels. You're in over your head.

go to rotaryresurrection.com, he has an article on how to do this. You'll be needing some S4 turbo parts like an ecu boost sensor and maf and harness to do it, unless you run a haltech.

You'll also need the interior harness that bolts to the S5 computer and the TII cluster. Should be able to find, though.

I did a S5 TII swap on an 88 s4 vert. The first problem is that your S5 ecu will not work with your S4 dash harness. So get ready for that. But you can get around it by changing some stuff around. but first you have to get to that part. So get it all in (Easy part). Are you going to use the n/a diff?

You dont have the plug for it on the s4 harness. I'll send you some instructions on how to do it. But you dont need to worry about that now. Get the engine in and the tranny in for now.

yup, all said and done, the motor is in the cradle and the tranny is in and bolted to the back of the motor, when i purchased the S5 turbo motor, i recieved ECU, ECU/ENGINE WIRING HARNESS, I also got the wiring harness that contains the hookups for the starter, battery, and fuseblock (driver side strut tower, u know the one with the fuel pump fuse and main engine fuse and etc.), well just send anything that can help me out my way and thanx!

The 1st thing I would do is get a standalone ecu and 2nd premix. That's the easiest way to put an S5 motor in a S4.

No bumping in this forums. I agree with Boost or Bust about getting a standalone ecu, you will be one step ahead of many other people when it comes to upgrading your car. You could sell the harness that you have for some extra cash to put forward towards a standalone, and you can get something inexpensive such as megasquirt. Head over to the engine management forum and decide which system is best for you. Rotary Resurrection and the search button are going to be your best friend for this swap.

Standalone is nice by far, but not everyone can wire and tune one.

1.3mazda - get the S5 wiring harness that plugs into the S5 computer that you're missing and an S5 cluster if you want to keep things simple. My buddy did the swap this way and it went fairly well.

As far as the OMP is concerned, there are a couple of options. Since you have the electric OMP bolted to the S5 engine and you have the wiring and computer, there's nothing you have to do. It'll work fine - the S5 computer looks for the OMP pump to be connected which is all you have to worry about. The second option comes from the fact that the amount of oil injected is eletctronically controlled (although the pump is obviously mechanically turned) - the concensus is that it is less reliable than the mechanically controlled one. You can unbolt the electric OMP, undo the lines, keep it plugged and zip tie it to the side and then bolt the mechanical one (don't forget the rod to the throttle) and the oil lines to the engine.

Hope this helps...search, search, search. BTW, you'll learn things here ten times faster by searching - it's really good advice. Most guys here (like me) will give you the answers, but it may take more time. Sometimes if you don't get replies it's because we know a better answer is out there by searching.

so am i basically looking at hardwiring the S4 dash harness into the S5 ecu and S5 ecu/engine harness ( came with snipped wires from S5 dash harness, all of dash harness is not THERE, only about 6'' and the plug of the S5 (TURBO) DASH HARNESS IS WITH THE ECU WIRING HARNESS, so should i just S4 dash harness+ S5 turbo dash harness= call it a day??!
