Ive just got my car started after a fresh rebuild (on my own) and well it FINALLY started and smoke came out of everywhere.. (well the exhaust)(we put high temp sealent around exhaust pipe and turbo and it caught fire!!) Well so far the oil pressure guage is up above the 8 mark (almost straight up) and the temp guage didnt move(but it is -3 outside and car was only going for about 8 mins...but the turbo was glowing bright RED!!

Sounds normal...During that first startup, all the assembly lube and crap in the engine needs to burn off...

Strange that the turbo is glowing red though. You may have already fouled your plugs. I assume it runs smooth and doesn't miss?

Congrats on getting it fired up.

Maybe replace that clogged cat with a downpipe?

Check for stuck injectors. Had one last week that was just pissing fuel into the secondary rear.

Also, are you SURE your plugs and wires are good? Rebuilds foul plugs very quickly.

Timing is way off (just a guess, thought I'd throw that into the mix). As in retarded too much. Use a light. NO guess work with timing, please.

I have only one thig to add here. Why did you use sealant? I take it you mean an RTV sealant of some sort. I don't think their high temp will be that high temp. I mean the exhaust gas is over 1000* F Use a gasket and nothing else.

Good point about the timing. If the CAS is stabbed one tooth off, you will see this exact behaviour.
