help! na tranny leaking

ok my car is a 86 NA 5spd. i am leaking about a quart every 100 miles or so. this sucks!

it is leaking around the driveshaft seal, which i have replaced twice with minimal effects.
i have a warped brake rotor (looking for another one 5lug u got one?) which is causing a rear end vibration that can be felt in the shifter.

could the vibrations from that be causing my seal to leak?

if not wtf?

btw the seals i am getting feel pretty tight around the dshaft and are tight in the tailshaft housing so i dont think its them.

thanks for ur help!

its leaking? it should be lvl enough so it dont leak, is ur tranny in at a weird angle? id check if its on the mount or something wrong, even with my driveshaft Off no tranny fluid came out the end while i was working on it

if it turns out u got a dead tranny i got one off my 87 SE (n/a) im trying to move cheap

hope it dont come to that though

it leaks when driving. ur right no leaks with dshaft off, but when i get back from a drive theres oil sprayed all over the bottom of my car - and the exhaust which makes my car smell bad! as far as i can tell when its just sitting nothing comes out but with all that oil all over everything i cant be sure.

thats weird, im not sure, and it comes out of wher the driveshaft is? you say you have replaced the seal, so that leaves me with..

is the splines or the end of the driveshaft itsself worn real bad, do the point of no seal can be made?

no it doesnt look bad but maybe if i cant fix it ill buy a dshaft with bad universals and just switch the yoak on that end... its got me totally fooled. i tried getting a smaller ID seal figured maybe something was worn but it just ate the seal. what u think about the vibration thing?

no the u joints are good i checked. i may be interested in that shaft after i fix my brake rotor and see what happens. my current theory is that the vibration from my warped brake rotor (which can be felt in the stick) is causing the shaft seal to leak b\c the shaft is moving inside it.

sounds plasable i guess, but i dont see that much of a vibration causing the bottem of your car to get so much oil on it, hmm this looks like its a little out of my league, im still new to alot of this

its being sprayed around the bottom of the car b\c its leaking into the shield thingy on the spinning dshaft.

takin a stab at it..even though they have different chambers..are you having to fill up the tranny case or the shifter house? If its the shifter house, you have a bad seal. I had 2 seals go bad in like 3 months
