Help with my 7!!!
I have an 88 GXL automatic, and it needs a new Torque converter does anyone know if I can use one from an 89, I know some parts can be used but some can't. I need to know very soon, or this car will be sold.

My guess would be...... No, no one has responded but the joining of the 2 series are not that compatible without some work. Sorry i can't give you a better answer.

Thanks, I called the Mazda dealer today, and they said that it is a totaly different converter all together, that's what I thought. I was just trying to find another way, to get my car back up and running before i sell it. I know I am not going to pay $1,125 for a new one thats for sure. I was thinking of doing the manual swap, but I am fresh out of money, with no job, and I know no one with a welder.

Dude, if you want to do a manual swap I've got some parts that might help you get your car running. Sorry to hear of your bad luck 
Here's what i've got, just in case it helps:
1990 NA tranny
shifter
flywheel
pressure plate (it should get you rolling!)
clutch slave cylinder
I hope you can get that thing back together soon!

Thanks but, my car is gone!!!! Some one vandilized, and set fire to the engine, the whole thing is gone. Man I hate these kinds of people, that do these things, I worked my whole summer on that car, and now it was all went up in flames, waiting on the Fire Fighters to come. I was thinking of rebuilding but it is way to gone, it even melted part of the upper intake, and the radiator, as soon as I get some pics I will upload them. I hope to return soon with a new seven some day.

Sorry for such a long message.
Well, actually I put the car out for sale, on monday for $1000, I had quite a few people come and look at it but one person said they couldn't believe I had it for so cheap, well I started talking to one of my friends, and they said I should, start it higher, so I scratched out the old price and wrote on the back $1700. The next day, which was wednesday, there was a few people who stopped and looked at it the first person, was very interested, he talked like he was going to buy it, he just had to figure where to get the money from, so he left, and then. This other guy, pulls up in an 83 camaro, and offers to trade, for this. I thought it seemed kind of fishy of him wanting to trade me a perfectly good camaro for a non moving seven. So I told him I would have to ask my dad, well I went in and talked to my brother and my dad, and they both said I should do the trade, since it would be a running car. But by the time I had gotten back out, there was another guy that had came, that had looked at the sign the night before, and they got to talking and the guy with the camaro, told these people that they could buy the camaro off of them for $1500, and then buy my seven off me for $1000, and the other guy would pocket the other $500. Well the people that offered the guy $1500 for the camaro, said they, were not sure if they wanted it. So both guys went back home, and I go to bed for the night. Then the next day which was yesterday, the camaro guy called me up and said that he was selling the camaro for $1500 to the other guy, and so he wanted to know if I would go ahead and sell him the seven for $1000. Well of course I said no, because by this time I had a few other people that were very interested in the car for $1700, so why would I sell it for less. Anyway, he was like I guess I will just have to find a different car, and then hung up with no bye, or nothing. I wasn't locking the doors, because I wanted to let who ever was looking at my car, could actually open it up and look at how clean the inside was and the new leather seats that were in it. Anyway, later that night, actually early this morning my parents woke up hearing a buzzing, or car alarm, they couldn't rememeber, but this is the GXL and it had the factory alarm, anyway they looked outside and saw my car was on fire. They called the fire department and they came like 15 mins later, and put it out. They started questining us. Well the car had not even been started at all that day. Well after they were done questioning us, they were looking around in the engine compartment for cause of fire. They left the doors standing open and I looked in to see if the seats, had gotten messed up from the fire, because I could have at least salvaged them, but they had cuts, deep cuts all up and down the whole seat. At that instant I thought it had to be vandilized, but since I kept the doors unlocked and I had not been inside the car for a day, they are saying that they, might have been slashed prier to this incident. I know that it had to be either the guy, with the camaro, or the people who were going to buy the camaro, because this was his only transportation, he was planing on getting my car, so I wondered if he didn't sell it to them and they got mad at me, another suspiscious thing is these people also came back while the fire fighters were at our house putting the fire out, they stopped at about a house or two down, and waited for a few minutes and then turned around and left, they didn't even come up to see what was wrong. The reason why I put it out for sale was because I couldn't find any other torque converter, then the dealer, and they wanted $1100 and firgured this car was not worth it, especially if I didn't have a job, so I put it out for sale. Actually if the fire would have happened tonight or tommarow morning it would have been a total loss to me, because I told my dad, since the car is sitting, we might as well cancel the insurance. So he got everything around last night to cancel it today, and then last night happend. I thank god, this didn't happen tonight or I would have been screwed.
