Help me start my engine

Just did a full emission removal and now i need help starting the car.

Im getting spark(didn't test it but i got shock which touching the spark plug wires while cranking) but i think something is wrong with my fuel system. Fuel goes in but it doesn't come out the return line. Is that normal or?

Its a 1988 rx7 S4 t2 Engine core with S5 NA manifolds, so its a NA S4 T2 engine and using N333 AFM, N333 ECU and N333 pressure censor.

Cranks, spark but no fuel(i think).

Disconnect the return line (fuel) and place it in an empty milk jug and try to start the car and you'll get some immediate feedback if you're getting fuel or not. Or you could do the same thing with the feed line coming from the fuel filter.

I disconnected both feed and return lines already. Fuel goes in the primary rail but it doesn't go through the secondary rail and nothing comes out the return line.

This is how its setup

fuel filter>front of primary rail>rear primary>rear secondary>front secondary fpr>return

Is that right?

If your engine is a US version then the feed line from the fuel filter connects to the hard line that is nearest the front of the engine thus the return line connects to the line closest to the firewall. It is just the opposite for a Japanese motor.

yes pump is running, fuel flows but doesn't pass through secondary rail. Could it be that my secondary rail is bad?(never used it and bought used) and i don't have a fuel pressure gauge.

Ok my fuel line is setup right, fuel does go through secondary rail but doesn't come out the FPR.

Tried to start my car and it feels like its about to start(.5 sec) but then it doesn't.

Have spark and fuel is flowing but not sure if its injecting.

If i wait like a minute in between cranking it, it feels like its going to start but doesn't.

I'll post a video later tonight if that helps.

If your lines are right, there's fuel going in, there should also be fuel coming out of the return line. Have you pulled off the FPR and checked it? I mean if you've got fuel all the way up to there and it stops, common sense would tell me that's the culprit.

emissions removal.......... hmm did you hook the AFM plug back up? I missed that once and thought something was wrong.

Doesn't the FPR require vacuum to work? Which vac nipple did you connect it to?

A miracle just happened!

I was getting frustrated from trying to start the car so i took a break for about 8 hrs. Now i didn't change anything everything is exactly the same. So after i got back home from a friend shop i wanted to try and start it one more time. Guest what? The car started on the first try!

But its late and the car is currently running open headers so i couldn't leave it on to check for leaks or anything. Didn't want to wake the neighbors.

I'll report back tomorrow.

So the car starts but no fuel is coming out the return line, im in the process of buying a new(used) rail with the incorporated FPR but have a quick question....

Will having the engine on and having no fuel come out the return line harm my engine or any other components?

i wouldn't run it like that just to be on the safe side. you don't want something relatively small turn into something big. If i were you i would just get an aftermarket fpr with a fuel pressure gauge.
