help me spend a grand on my TII

Its my bday soon, and after saving some money and getting some more for my bday I will have close to a grand. Help me decide or point out items I may not be thinking of.

my current set up:
87 TII with 120k+ on stock original motor
completely gutted with 4 point autopower race bar.
driver's side harness
driver's side recaro
momo steering wheel
FET qucik release
tockiko adjustable all around
cusco camber plates up front
rear camber arms on order
toe bushings on order
stock wheels/tires
apexi n1 exhaust
first gen s-afc to be installed
apexi el tach to be installed
greddy turbo timer
FCD not yet installed waiting for other mods first

I was saving up for the rest of the apexi el series gauges. I have enough to get boost, water temp, oil temp, oil pressure, fuel pressure, egt. With the extra money I am going to recieve its making me think against getting the gauges. Thing is I don't know what to get. I am thinking maybe get some of the gauges and get my oil leak fixed as well as getting injector and fixing the hot start. Thanks in advance.

I plan on doing that but that will take some time to find the right wheels. I have my eye on a set of rear rims for $200 but that doesn't figure into this money.

What kind of hot start problems are you having? You sure its an injector leaking or having a problem?

You might think about having getting the parts for a rebuild... or swap, depends on how strong your car is pulling of course... Whats your compression like?

Oil Meetering pump operational or are you using pre-mix?

car is still strong. I plan on rebuilding it myself but not any time soon.

My hot start problem is that after driving for a while I can't start it up. I can pull the egi fuse, turn the engine over a couple times and it will start up.

edit: not premixing yet.

Well then if it were me, since your car is pulling strong and running well.... I would attack those basic problems happening, the hot start problem/fuel injector... Then whatever is left you can spend on your gauges etc.. Its nice just being able to startup your car without needing to unflood it every other time you use it.

But thats just me.

thats the thing. this isn't my daily driver so its not that big of an issue, but it would be nice to not have to pop the hood.

At 120k miles, id start saving for a rebuild. Im not saying that it will blow up tomorrow...but I wouldnt expect much more life out of it.

When is the last time the car had a complete tune-up? new plugs, plug wires, oil, oil filter, fuel filter, etc? Fix anything that isnt working properly and get the car up to almost perfect running condition before doing any more modifications. It may not be as fun, but just the right way to do things.

that was all done within the last 5 months. I bought the car from a neighbor who planned on keeping the car for a couple more years. It was in the shop for a little while getting that done. once it was out it got a fresh paint job. the engine is immaculate. no oil leaks anywhere besides the oil pan. the reason she sold it was due to the hot start and she wanted a reliable car. so I got it for 500 and she got a rx8. rebuild is on the back of my mind. if the engine were to go I would just get a used short block and start to rebuild it myself.

I didn't see a Downpipe in that list. I just got the Racingbeat DP and presilencer and damn is it Bling Bling!!

But with that mileage a rebuild might be good.
Rotary Resurrection does em for $1300 plus shipping.

Also with 1k you in front mount territory almost. Just another thought for ya.

Also maybe go with a upgrade hybrid turbo and get 720's for secondaries and a SAFC.

down pipe is in my future as well as a injectors which should clear up my hot start issue. a front mount can be had for cheaper. I will just wait for a good deal to come along.

i'd rebuild, the last thing you want to do is have a apex seal go, and have to replace a housing, rotor, and turbo. i would rebulid, it is much easier this way.

Yeah Rebuild shoudl be the first thing.

I have a 88 GTU(NA) and it blew it's coolant seals at 102k while my 88 SE blew them new years at 155k.
