Exclamation Help me out!! Need some tips!!

hey i need some engine inspection tips.
this monday i am going up to New Jersey to look at JDM engine but i want to know so tips to inspecting 13bt.
Is there a way to check compression?
Is there a way to check for cracks in the block? like a spray that will make then stand out?
How do you check for play in the turbo?
How do You check For blown Apex seals without taking the motor apart?
What are so other things i should check?
how do u check the trans?


Also i am going to check out
t2 transmission
t2 differential
t2 Driveshaft
t2 axles

If you can give me any tips to inspect these parts please let me know?

Is the engine in a running car? Then yes you can check it. Otherwise it seems difficult. See forum FAQ and/or google for buyer's guides. You'd want to check coolant seals, compression and oil seals. Make sure you look up the proper way to check compression on a rotary (forum search, shop manual, etc.). That will tell you the condtion of the apex seals and side & corner seals. The buyer's guides mentioned should tell you how to check the coolant and oil seals. If any of these is bad it will take a $2k-$3k+ rebuild to fix.

Transmission and turbo: Check same as you would on any other car. A forum search/etc. may be more helpful than me here.
