Yea I'm up here in the burbs of Chi-town

I wanna ask you guys a serious question, pls give me a "no **** assesment" every one i talk to (and none of them have FCs) say that in the process of trying to get power out of the 13B that I will skrew up a few motors and that simple bolt ons dont take well to the 13B. I am not saying I agree with this but its all I keep hearing from everyone and its starting to sink in ya know! Buy i wanna know from FC owners what the real deal is!

NB8CT,

It boils down to tuning the car correctly to make power.

If you run lean under boost, detonation will pop the engine.

The nonturbo engine works great with most bolt on upgrades like underdrive pullies, exhaust, intake, etc..

The turbo engine requires correct tuning & monitoring. There's lots of experience on this board and with many racing shops on building high output turbo engines.

A few pics:

wow.....in the that 1st pic, is that a set of 4 secondary injectors plumed into the intake manifold?? wow

Yea so how would the car react to say rb's turbo back exhaust, intake and say a HKS blowoff valve? Or would I need a AFC or something like that??

Sorry about the questions but I dont know to much about the 13B, or wankels for that matter.

The RB 2.5" exhaust works great, but I've heard the 3" doesn't provide enough backpressure. Usually a downpipe from the turbo, performance main catalytic converter, and nice RB catback exhaust.

The border racing car puts out 450+ HP. As you can imaging with a large volume turbo and high rpms if you crank the boost way up you need more fuel to keep from leaning out.

Larger secondaries will accomlish this, but additional injectors do a better job.

The BOV & fuel computers are a must. Some of the ECUs (haltech / AEM) have the fuel computer built in. Most of the computers still require you run a seperate boost controller.

Obviously the border car has a FMIC (front mount intercooler) as well

The other supercharged car pics you see are running ~6-7 lbs boost on a ported engine. Obviously not MASSIVE HP, but it makes a good car for the twisties as you have instant boost responce.

Well guys, thanks for all the info, but last night my dad, to make a long story short, said NO to the FC. He doesnt want me to have 2 cars....whatever, Im kinda pissed 'cuz I have always wanted a FC, this car is one of those ones that i will always look back on and wish that I bought it. Maybe in the future I will find one that is in as good of condition as this one, oh well.

Well if anyone is interested in this car, e-mail me and I will get you in contact with the owner who is selling it.
I will keep comming back here, I learned a hell of a lot in this thread alone, and I wanna learn more!

Thanks guys!!

Yea i could, but ya know i have wanted to turbocharge the miata since the day i got it (2 years ago) and for that whole time, every ounce of my effort has gone into it (not to mention every ounce of my wallet). I am now only ~$800 short of a 270rwhp 2200lbs miata, I think that it will be a bit fater than an FC with the same hp #s as well as being a bit easier to maintain.
That said, i would love to just have a FC to play with, and still have a turbo miata, unforunatly my father does not see my side of things (or how much I want the FC in question here).

Oh well maybe I'll ask him for the vin and track the car every once in a while and when the time comes make an offer if it is still in good shape.
