What is the "right" way to put my clutch slave cylinder back on....from taking it off the tranny to getting in the car to leave your house, what's the "correct" way?

Your question is, erm...a bit vague.

Are you replacing the slave cylinder or what?

Oddly enough, I just finished replacing the entire clutch hydraulic system- slave, master cylinder and line- not an hour ago.
It was very simple and straightforward and if you have a more specific question I'm sure it can be easily answered.

1. remove the two bolts holding the slave cylinder.
2. begin undoing the line that attaches the slave to the clutch reservoir
3. remove line replace if needed
4. screw in the new line
5. reverse the steps above
6. bleed clutch system
7. enjoy the 7

I really do think you need to spend some time looking at the FSM. This question is neither imaginative nor a complicated procedure. Next time you have a question you should see if the FSM has a troubleshooter section for it. The FSM will explain to you HOW to properly remove parts, how to properly inpect them, how to properly fix/tune back to specs, AND how to INSTALL it again.

I replaced the whole hydraulic system a few weeks ago. Simple and straightforward, no need for a manual. Unbolt the old parts in favour of the new and bleed the system. Voila

New slave\master cylinder and SS line.

If you're not taking it off completely, you just take out 2 bolts and rest it somewhere (don't let it dangle).
