Question Help with the Last Hurtle

First the car history: car has been sitting for about a year after I bought it. It was in a front end collision wit what looks like a pole (battery side). Because of the accident the water pump housing was cracked and it started over heating (all done by previous owner). I changed the engine with a used one with low miles.

The Car: 1988 non-turbo Mazda rx-7 SE base, just finished engine swap, exhaust not on, only the alternator belt is on, new plugs, new fuses for the box under the hood, hood not on, between one quarter and empty tank of gas, new gold diehard battery, and fan not on

What’s happening: when I start the car it clicks. On the second try the battery dies, next I checked the battery voltage with a DMM and then checked to see if there was a drain on the battery. No drain. Next I hook the battery up to my other car and then try to jump start it. At this point all it does is turn over but does not start so I try to un-flood it. The only idiot light that comes on is the one for the brake.

Now go next I will try to do the ATF trick but I would like to hear you opinion. If anyone is near DC or Mitchellville MD would like to come down to take a look at it I can hook you up at the movie theatre or at the shop at Bally’s Total Fitness.

Do a load test on your battery - it seems she is shot. DON'T do any tricks until you have solid cranking and electronics. wasting your time.

You sure you connected all the wiring at the starter correctly? You didn't use injectors that had been sitting around for a year, did ya?

Is your AFM hooked up right?
Does it act like its gonna start right after you unflood it? does it get up to like 800 rpms or so and then NOT start?
Could be a vac leak too...

The battery is like a year old, i got it because i bought the car the old battery would drain (i thought it was the car alarm) but when i got the new battery the drain was gone. well i did use the old injectors. The engine spins/ cranks abut no start or atempt to start. i have pictures of three connections that i have no idea what they do. on is near/under the AFM yellow, the second is behind the alternator and is black. i searched and found this to be the electric fan connection. and the last one is on the right side fender under the brake fluid bottle and its white. i have copped and screwed the picture so fit under the max size but the server is not letting me do it so i'll keep trying.

the yellow one under/by the AFM is probably the check connector for the fuel pump

the black one behind the alt may be for the port air solenoid valve on the ACV

if the one by the brake M/C doesn't have a mate anywhere, don't worry about (optional equipment, most likely- I got one or two dangling there too)
