Question need help. QUESTION!

Im going to make this short and accurate about this. The other day when i started

my car it straight up rev up at 5k RPM, causing it to smoke badly. Turn off. Try

again. Did this 3 times. I dont think the gas pedal is stuck, it self revs on its on at

5k rpm Before this problem occur it usually takes me 3 trys to get my car to start.

It would stall the first and second then good on the third.*steady idle at 2k rpm

then drops to 1k rough idling/ or stall.* Sometimes i can stop the idling by playing

with the tps screw, its not accurate but i can make it stop idling.

-bad tps?
-exhaust leak?
-rebuild time?
-Is it fixable?
-Any suggestions?? HELP!!

I'm about to go to bed, but here's a few questions to get you started.
Did it suddenly start doing this? Did you do anything to it before this happened? Did anything happen right before this started? What color is the smoke? Does it always smoke or just at startup?
Do the bubbles-in-the-filler-neck check to see if the coolant seals are bad if the smoke is white (search for "bubbles in coolant check" or something similar). Do a compression check just in case. The idle sounds like you might have some vac leaks, though I'm not quite sure why it revs up to 5k then goes down to 1-2k. Maybe an out-of-wack accelerated warmup (3k startup) system?
Also, where on Earth are you in case it needs work? Maybe someone can recommend a good place to go.

NO. The day before this happen I was at Dominoes pizza getting 555deal. When i started the car to leave the place...it did something it never did before my 7 rough idle at 1k to 3.5k like FAST! up in down bettween those rpms. it just wouldnt stop then i got scared sooo i just drove it asap to my pad while it was doing that. When i got home i didn't even bother to check up on it cause i was soo hungry. Then the next day i started it up. It just went straight rev up to 5k rpm and i wasnt even gasing or had my foot on the pedale. While it did that my exhuast was blowing *WHITE* clouds of smoke. So i panic, turn off engine, then started it up again. Same steady 5k rpm and smokes! SO i ended my day wondering what happend....... Oh ya i live in San DIego Area if that is useful info. I hope this clears the ?????? and made more sense! Ill go look up the " bubbles in coolant check ", maybe might give more info but i dont have any mechanic skillz to do much

89gxl n/a stock.

Unhook your throttle cable and see if it still revs to 5k when you start it.

No, I mean the throttle cable that goes from your pedal to the firewall side of your UIM. If it's stuck into pulling on the throttle it will cause it to idle high. Basically, it will make it like you're pushing on the pedal.
