Checking the comp will tell you if you engine is still good. How does the oil look? It may be in limp mode or a large portion of your precats fell apart and are now clogging everything. Have you done any kind of tune-up stuff? What year and model? If you can video will help people give a better answer.

Check the fuel pump filter sock in the gas tank. Could be plugged cats as well.

If you read its an 86 GXL, so there is no limp mode.

Oh, then maybe I am actually mistaken, I have always thought limp mode was a feature of S5 engines due to the electric OMP.

There is no limp mode unless its an S5.

Compression test before anything (checking everything else is useless if its actually blown). Then check for fuel or spark because if it shakes really bad then its probably barely running on one rotor.

Well MY 88 GXL would not rev past 3k. It would idle fine just wouldn't rev past exactly 3k. So this must be some kind of computer controlled thing? Replacing the AFM solved the problem. Maybe it's not called limp mode.

OP check that comp and find out if the front rotor is OK. Then go from there. Search about doing a comp test. Sometimes faulty readings can occur due to flooding. IF you get no comp try putting in a little bit of oil for comp.

Yeah, its called a dicked up AFM. The S4 ECU will in no way inhibit the output of the engine. If a sensor fails, thats somethng different. Stop posting things that are incorrect.
