HELP!! I made a big mistake!

I think I fried something big time!
I got a brand new battery for it, and when I was hooking it up I wasnt paying attention and hook the POS wire to the NEG abttery terminal. I checked the battery and it still has juice, when I hook it up properly now she wont turn over. the only electrical which works is the headlights pop up and down, I'm really worried I fried something big time. Please help me, this is my first RX.

Check your main fuses in the engine bay. This happened on my 240 and it was the alternator fuse.

I dont know where the main fuses are in the engine bay, I'm a brand new owner. I just bought this car 1 week ago exactly, I'm sorry but I'm really new with these RX's.

They're next to the driver's side strut tower. It's a little black box about 1"x6".

ok, thanks guys I found it and I think I may have blown the main fuse. All the other fuses have a bright gold/copper color to it and they are connected, but the main fuse is a little black and not connected. When I say connected I mean inside the clear lid, I can see all the others touch but the main one. I can pull all the other fuses out and put them back in, but I can't pull the main fuse. Am I right in assuming so, and if so how do I get the main fuse out. Once again everyone, I really appreciate the help.

2 10mm bolts holding in the main fuse, you need to unbolt the fuse box from the bracket and pop the 2 side lids open.

Thanks guys, I was able to find out that I blew my main fuse. Once I got the main fuse unbolted, I used my test light and connected the 2 wires with the test light then turned the key over and it light up. So now I just need to find a new main fuse, it looks like these fuses are special and I will need to go to mazda dealship to get them. Thanks guys, I was able to figure out the problem within an hour instead of gong to see my mechanic and paying outta my A#$ for it.

My fuse cost about $12. Just be thankful that fuse was there or it would have blew up some of your components.

I've said it once, and I'll say it again. This forum is full of VERY useful technical information. Just remember to use the search button, cause a lot of **** has been asked. (I'm sure others will agree...)

Glad to hear everything worked out, and good luck with your car, brotha.

I did the same thing and it fried a hot wire going to the light switch. I also had to re-solder all the points in the cpu then everything came back to life.

Got the new fuse and put it in and she fired right up...purred like a kitten, then I went to turn on the radio and it would turn on but only stay on for a split second, then turn off. It woud do this repeatily, until I took off the face plate. It wouldnt reset it until I turned off the car, could I have blown my radio fuse as well or could something else have fried?

I got a new fuse at Advance Auto.

If you had blown your fuse for your audio it wouldn't come on at all.
