$50 rx7

Just ran into a guy that has a 2nd gen that he is trying to get rid of. Come to find out the only problems are lost keys and he guy who owned it prior had a breathalizer installed after a DUI. Apparently when they pulled out the breathalizer they screwed the wiring.... How much of a screw up could this be. Is it worth what little time I do have to offer to get it running. It is only 50 dollars but it is also another car that could be possibly sitting in a parking spot at my apartment that I don't have to offer. Thanks for the help. Oh also the guy was saying its a 92-94 rx7 n/a

****, I'd buy it. The chassis itself is worth more than $50 even if it is a piece of ****.

92-94 NA? uh, there was no 1992 RX-7. Only left over Verts. 93-95 were ALL turbo charged. The guy must still be drunk. The car described does not exist.

He builds drag vettes and owns a paint shop and is also military... I can understand (well not really) why he doesn't want to mess with it. So I am guessing I should get off of my *** and go get it then. How much of a pain in the *** do you think this kind of wiring screw up is?????

The pain in the *** might be that the engine is screwed and you need to fix the wiring to find out. The sitiuation here is that the taillights are worth twice what you are paying for the car. Dont be stupid, go get it before he changes his mind. Worst case scenario you put it up as a whole car for sale here for $2000

He was telling me that the engine is fine. I don't know how long it has been sitting but I will look into. He was on his lunch break with my roommate so it was kind of a "ehh, I will think about it" thing. I am trying to set up to meet him tonight. I will know a little more info about it tonight hopefully. If it becomes to much of a pain in my *** I will sell. But, I have been looking for a second gen and this just happened to roll by. So, If I have to sink way to much time that I don't have into it I will sell. I will try to get some pics up tonight

yeah, he really didn't know what year it was. he was just guessing. I think it will be delivered here tonight. I am in the process of arranging a meeting. Car and delivery for 100 bucks. not bad I guess. I have one of my boys coming in the morning to check the wiring out with me. Hopefully it is a diamond in the rough and not just a polished turd. But hell, like it was said above. I could turn around and sell it for a hell of a lot more than I paid for it.

It's probably an S5. People often think an S5 FC to be mid 90s and the FD late 90s.

You probly know this, but just in case, on the driver's door jamb there is a silver plate that has the year on it.
BTW that's a killer deal, you could sell three parts on that car and easily double your money!

i'm sure it's not even a polished turd but just a regular turd. it is very rare to get a good deal as i'm sure you know. even from sitting for so long the engine may have developed problems on it's own that the owner didn't even realize were present, hell i'd bet on it.

Yeah, I am just waiting on this guy to deliver. He works with my roommate on base. Seems to be a pretty good guy and knows somewhat about mechanics but not so much about mazdas. He was talking about putting a small block in it. Now, not trying to start the debate but wtf. I really think he just caught a fairly light weight car and wanted to drop his american muscle and go to the strip. He really doesn't care about the heritage. But not trying to spark a debate. Just explaning why I think the deal was available.

I dunno man, my last (currrent) RX-7 was a 89 with 52k on it. I paid 600 and did a nice swap of the drivetrain. I thought I got a steal.
