Help help!! Which one would you use???

I am putting together my car, and must reconnect all kinds of water hoses.

I used to use the hose clamp that has slits in it. I tried not to tighten it too much but over time the slits eat into the hose. I am thinking of using the non-slit clamp that is usually for "fuel injection hoses" I think it may be a little more kind to the water hoses.

Am I just kidding myself?

Will the fuel injection hose clamp works with water hoses?

Will it be better??

How tight should I clamp down the screws??

Thanks!!!!

All greased up and loved it!

and one more ? while I am at it!!!!!!!!

There is a gasket between the radiator housing and the engine block. When reinstalling, do I really have to apply Permatex sealer IN ADDITION to the factory gasket??

I did NOT use it, and just want to make sure that's right.

(There was no Permatex goop when I first disassembled the unit, so I figured it's not needed)

Thanks,

dh

i would think that those clamps work fine. i have used those clamps myself on pretty much all of my hoses. their easier to work with, and those stock clamps you are talking about are a pain in the ***. I'm not too sure about the gasket though. But i would install it the same way the factory did. If they didn't put any "goop" on it than i wouldn't either.

Stock clamps would be fine. If not, use whatever is available.

As for the sealant... don't worry about it. I never use any, usually just a quick coat of synthetic grease so I never have to scrape another gasket in my life.
